Hing Lung Chinese Food

I really want to love this place because their egg rolls are amazing, but today I ordered Chow mein in my plate and from my understanding it is supposed to be noodles. Well, there were no noodles, only bean sprouts and otherr veggies. I only ordered this plate because I thought I would get my fill of noodles but I ended up with 5-6 ribs, way too much rice and this supposed chicken chow mein who has no noodles. When I google chow mein it gives me a million pictures of noodle dishes. I've eaten elsewhere this dish and it was noodles... am I missing something?

Very sad about this because I feel like I was given the wrong item. If this is a mistake, I am happy to bring receipt and get noodles next time I go. If not, might reconsider unless I really want eggrolls.

I legit dream about this place since I moved away from Ottawa. I’m planning a trip back to Ottawa to order out from this gem (not kidding). this is really good food.

Ordered the General Tso Chicken and the bacon fried rice. The bacon in the fried rice was raw, not cooked at all. Kind of disgusting. The General Tso was good.

We ordered take out for a later delivery and it arrived hot and on time. Large portions for the price and great tasting food. Love the egg rolls.

Love these guys. Typical Chinese-Canadian food, have been ordering the combo F for over a decade. Food is simple, but very tasty. Also, years ago (before uber eats and all that), I was actually missing a buck or two (mistake on my part, didn't count my money right like a first year university student that can't handle his liquor quite yet) and their delivery guy was nice enough to give me the food anyways. Haven't forgotten, and am still a loyal and grateful customer more than 10 years later. BTW, I'm very much looking forward to my combo F, which is scheduled to arrive in 10 minutes!

I ordered food from here on their website (because they state that as a preference to other food delivery apps). I scheduled the delivery for 3 hours after I had placed the order. The delivery was 30 minutes late. I called at the 15 minute mark and asked where it was and had been told the delivery driver was on his way. I called again when he was 30 minutes late and was again told he was on his way. Given the distance of the restaurant I knew that the delivery should have been there even if he had left when the order was supposed to arrive. They just stated that I would have to wait. Delivery was 35 minutes late and we were not given any sort of discount. The delivery driver was lovely and the food was warm but definitely this restaurant needs to work on their service.

For the price you pay, it’s not worth it. The rice tasted like it was smoked which I really didn’t like. The chicken balls are super small and I only got 5. Chicken balls and friend shrimp were soggy. I ordered an item that has the small corn it and I bit into one that tasted like mold.

It was disgusting and it paid $53

The rice was good not salted at all though. I ordered the spicy chicken and hot and sour soup told them to make it extra spicy please and it was pretty bland just very sweet. The chicken was pretty dry and the sauce was way too sweet and lacked flavour.

Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing experiences we’ve had with Chinese takeout. We ordered 3 combo plates and paid $84 (including delivery and tip), hoping to find a new local spot while our regular place is closed.

Every dish in our combo plates had an overwhelming smokey taste that overpowered everything else— it didn’t taste grilled or wok-fried, just oddly burnt/smokey in a way that made it hard to enjoy. The food was also very bland, lacking the bold flavours and seasoning you’d expect from authentic Chinese cuisine. Nothing stood out, and the portions didn’t make up for the lack of quality.

Sadly, it missed the mark on all fronts. We won’t be ordering again.

I been coming here for 26 years best Chinese food I use to live in Ottawa now in Toronto and I always have to have it and I get craving for it try it and u will love it and don’t forget the best egg rolls!

Good use of vegetable (not cheap stuff) but bad, bland sauces/broths and no onion. Many chinese food places used cheap vegetables as filler. This place uses good ones. But they use almost no onion and very plain sauces without flavour on their beef/veg chicken/veg guy ding type items. This could be improved easily without extra cost. Please learn how to make proper garlic sauce, oyster sauces, chop suey sauces/broths (hint, you must use some onion)

Absolutely amazing food and on-time takeout service! The wonton soup is really good here along with the General Tso Chicken and House Chicken Pad Thai. Will be coming back!
