We came around 5 and they just had 2 flavours of croissant left. The pistachio tasted more like mix nut for me but thé chocolate was really good, not too sweet. I love how the cover was so crunchy and the cream inside was thick and creamy and full! The place a bit small but shop’ decoration is sweet and cute. Good experience and they have self order machine too if you dont wanna talk.

The pastries were amazing. One of the best croissants I've ever had and the basque cheesecake was perfect. I highly recommend. I wasn't a fan of the chocolate croissants. While the cream and dip were really good, the croissant itself was pretty dry. Was probably a one off. Still the best pastry shop I've been to in Ottawa.

Wow is the first word that comes to mind. The shop was packed, so good for them! My iced dark caramel latte was delicious. Espresso was strong, their house made sauce was not overly sweet but had a rich flavour. I got a couple goodies to take home and eat. Croissant, canele, and their featured fancy looking croissant, dipped in chocolate and filled with like a Ferraro hazelnut cream. So. Freaking. Delicious. This is most definitely my #1 spot for coffee and pastries in Ottawa. I will recommend to everyone I know. Also, I of course read the reviews before coming here and noticed a few people complaining about the price, saying too expensive? But I never felt that any of their prices were unreasonable. Especially for the amazing quality you get.

Hugo Cafe is co-located with Social Thai. Social Thai was once upon a time a regular restaurant with in-store dining, but they are now a takeout only business and the seats now are for the cafe patrons. I think it's possible to buy takeout at Social Thai and sit there and eat it, since they share the space, but I've never tried it. So Hugo Cafe is known for their croissants that are shaped like hockey pucks (but smaller) and are filled with cream. I've seen them all over social media and they look great, but the $8 price tag has been keeping me away. On a Sunday afternoon, my husband and I decided to give it a try. We planned to buy one and share. When we got there, they didn't have the famous croissants. I was told it was because it was the same day as the Thai Food Festival at Lansdowne Park and they were a vendor there and all their efforts that day were focused on the festival. They said they did have a special item that they were also selling at the Festival: a sago cup with Pandan cream topped with mango cubes. It was $8.50. It looked pretty small, so I passed and got one of their regular croissants instead. It was $5. It was big and fluffy and contained a lot of butter, lol. It was good, but too rich and greasy for me, and much too expensive for my budget, for just a regular croissant. I was determined to try their famous croissants though, so I returned a few weeks later and got their pistachio croissant. It was a bit smaller than I had hoped and the outer layers were drier and harder than I expected. However, the inside was filled with delicious cream and the pistachio flavoured white chocolate dip on the outside was tasty. The croissant itself was ok, but it felt more like a vehicle for the cream filling. I am happy I tried it and my wallet is grateful that I didn't love it, lol. Service was good both times. The cafe is nice inside. The tables were all occupied both times, so I couldn't take decor pictures without people in it. Street parking only.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this cafe, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The coffee selection was impressive, and my latte was expertly crafted, delivering the perfect balance of flavor and richness. What truly impressed me was their drink menu - not only did they have an array of coffee options, but their selection of other beverages was outstanding as well. The attention to detail in both the drinks and the overall cafe ambiance was remarkable. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, which added to the overall enjoyment of my visit.Whether you're a coffee aficionado or someone looking for a unique and delightful drink, I highly recommend this cafe. It's clear that they take pride in their offerings, and I can't wait to return to explore more of their menu. A true gem!
