Feels like home...
Came in Sunday afternoon with my friend from Kenya.. everything was friendly and relaxed and delicious. Cannot decide what was the best part of the meal.. we shared dishes. very flavourful. Will go agian.
Fast and friendly service. Absolutely delicious food!! We bought 4 plates for our family of 4 and there was LOTS to eat and the kids loved it!
Best nyama choma (BBQ) I have ever had. The dry beef fry was also amazing! Thanks for bringing back memories of back home! #+254
it was lovely ... the food is so nice and yummy. j definitely recommend everyone to go there.
If, like me, you're looking for a taste of home away from home then look no further. Authentic Kenyan food that took me back home with the aromatic spices, fresh herbs and perfectly prepared meals. 1000% would recommend, even for non-kenyans!
I love the chapatis here. Carol makes the best of them. The plantain dish with choma with sukuma is good too. Carol thank you for making those yummy chapos.
Amazing food, I recommend the goat skewers. Fantastic service ?

The place looks decent and the waitress was really nice. But the problem was the suspicion on the freshness of the food, me and my partner had abdominal pain the next day.The beef stew had a fishy taste. The samosas are very hard and the kachumbari had no acidity(vinegar or lime juice). The chicken stew was nice, i would prefer thigh because i find breast are tasteless and dry.Apart form all that the prising was a little high we felt robed for a 100$ meal for two people.
Don't be put off by Jambo's bare bones appearance - looks can be deceiving. Jambo has Ottawa's best east African cuisine, including ugali, nyama choma, and sukumawiki, complete with ice cold Tusker beer. Can't recommend highly enough!

Came back from there and got the goat, rice and plantains. Plantains were good, rice were plain and fine. The goat had two different parts, first part was re fried, very very oily that I had to use tissues on it to soak up the grease inside, that part was also far from tender and was hard (Seems like it was yesterdays then heated by frying it) . The other half was tender, not oily and tasted good. It's been almost two hours now and have some abdominal cramps. I may come back there but just for plantains.
Authentic African meals, very tasty, full of flavorful spices without being too hot. Good size plates and welcoming, no pressure service. The kind of modest looking hidden treasure not to be missed. And I dare you to resist moving on your chair with the music playing. On my Golden list for life!
