5 stars for the food and the lovely lady who served us.
The food was very good, and the service from one particular staff member—a kind and friendly lady—was excellent. She made us feel welcome and comfortable, and I truly appreciate her warm attitude.
However, I do want to share a disappointing part of our experience.
Before arriving, I called ahead and clearly explained that my wife has a disability and cannot stand for more than 10 seconds, even with assistance. When we got there, the nice lady who had been helping us kindly offered that my wife could sit on a tall chair at the counter while we waited for a table, since it was first-come, first-served. It was a thoughtful gesture, and my wife took the seat just to rest while we waited.
Unfortunately, another staff member—a different waitress—approached with a noticeably cold and unfriendly attitude. She said, without a smile, “I need to clear the counter.” I explained that my wife was just resting and wouldn’t be dining there, due to her condition. Despite that, she insisted and made us feel unwelcome, all while maintaining a blank, unkind demeanor.
The most frustrating part? After asking my wife to stand and not sit, she didn’t even clean the counter right away. She left us standing for another minute or two before removing the dishes—and still didn’t clean it after that.
I was close to raising the issue further, because I believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity—especially those with visible health conditions. The only reason I held back was because I didn’t want to spoil what was meant to be a rare and happy outing for my wife.
And honestly, the only reason I’m not giving this place 1 star is because of the lovely lady who treated us so well—and because my wife specifically asked me to leave a positive review.
So yes, the place is good. The food is tasty. One of the servers was outstanding.
But I sincerely hope the rest of the staff learns to treat all customers with basic empathy and respect—especially those who clearly need it.

Food was very good and server was great. I got the special omelette, banana bread with fruit. We had a very long wait after ordering, however they may have just been under staffed this day and all the tables were full so it's understandable.

Had been here multiple times years ago and had a good experience but the food today was not good- poached eggs were over cooked, and the hash was sitting in a puddle of liquid which wet the potatoes.

Waited over 45 minutes for food, food was very disappointing. Not worth it at all.

Really disappointed with my experience at Jax Brunch. While our waitress herself was kind, the service overall was terrible — we waited 45 minutes for food while two tables that arrived well after us (15 and 25 minutes later) were served first. On top of that, the amount of stares we got walking in as immigrants made the atmosphere really uncomfortable.
As for the food, I don’t usually bash it since it’s a blessing to even have a meal, but what they served as “the Hash” was basically some bland compost w some wack kimchi that tasted far from authentic, or from anything really. The only saving grace was the maple baked beans we ordered on the side.
(don’t get fooled, it looked good too before i took a bite)
Jax used to be great back in 2021, but sadly it’s gone downhill — jax of all disappointments

Pretty surprised by the great reviews here.
Both of our dishes were not very good. My hash was not a hash, it was a bunch of unseasoned veggies and potatoes sitting in a pool of water. Worst yet, most of the veggies were the stems and pieces you wouldn't normally serve.
My girlfriend got the breakfast sandwich and it was pretty dry, could have used an aioli. The fruit was also not in season and the salad was too oily.
The rhubarb lemonade had no rhubarb flavour.
Maybe an off day?

🌞 I’ve been to Jax twice now and it’s hands down one of my favorite breakfast/brunch spots in Ottawa! 🥞🍳 The food is absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and made with care. You can really taste the quality.
The atmosphere is cozy and homey, and the service is always super friendly and welcoming 😊. They close at 2 PM, so it’s the perfect place for a late breakfast or relaxed brunch.
One of my favorite parts is the covered terrace—such a lovely spot to enjoy your meal whether it’s sunny or rainy 🌤️. And bonus: there’s usually free street parking nearby 🚗🙌.
Highly recommend for anyone looking to start their day with great food and great vibes! 💛

Great place to eat breakfast. There wasn't any air conditioning inside on this humid day, however, not so pleasant on such a day. The food came quick and was cooked very well, the portion sizes were decent, but prices are a bit expensive for what you get. Server was very nice and accommodating and I appreciate that you can swap some ingredients
Quaint little brunch spot. Delicious food and great service. Had the fried fish sandwich and it was delightful! You can tell that the chef/cooks really put their soul into the food. Reasonably priced too. Highly recommend.

I had the Breakfast Burrito — it was good, but I was expecting more sauce and beans. Maybe it’s because I didn’t add hot sauce, but still, a little sauce would’ve balanced it out better. The egg was a bit too dominant. Nothing special, but still good.
Looking back: I paid $22 — that’s way too much for what it was.
