Great place to grab some amazing food! Also open for lunch on the weekends which is great for me since I usually work evenings. Can’t wait for the patio to open :)

What an amazing restaurant!
Food is exquisite with fresh ingredients, and beautiful presentation. Service is top-notch. This is far above most establishments in Ottawa, and probably the best Japanese food I've had in North America.
Prices reflect the quality of the experience.
This is a high-end establishment with beautiful, modern decor, good for a date, or for a business diner.
Highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I were excited to try this place but it was a disappointment. We had originally booked a reservation for valentine's day but rescheduled when they announced afterwards that they were doing a set menu.
Our reservation was for the Tuesday after valentine's day at 7 p.m. The place was 2/3 empty on a non-peak night. It was only the hostess and the bartender working so I can empathize that they were being spread thin, but our main complaint is that the food took ridiculously long to arrive.
We each ordered a drink. They were just ok and pretty small.
We ordered the scallop crudo, two oshi samplers and the chirashi don. We were planning on ordering a second round of food based on how full we were after those items but gave up on that idea.
Around 7:55 we received the scallop crudo, which tasted overpoweringly like sweet lemon. I was so hungry I ordered miso soup to hold me over, which came instantly and was pretty good. Our oshi samplers came a short while after around 8:10. The sockeye salmon and yellowtail were really good, the other three kinds were nothing special, I would not order them again.
More time passes and our server asks if we want anything else, so we remind her about our chirashi don. She looks surprised, goes to check with the chef, and comes back to tell us the chef forgot and it will be out soon. She tried to lighten the mood by joking about it but we hadn't had much to eat for the amount of time we were in the restaurant so it unfortunately did not land. No kind of reparation was offered. The chirashi don itself was underwhelming and definitely our least favourite dish of the night. It is nothing special and doesn't feel complete, something like a sauce of some kind is definitely missing.
After more waiting, my boyfriend had to get the hostess to give us our bill and I was hoping they would comp the chirashi don we waited over an hour for but nope, it was on the bill. The hostess and bartender thanked us for our patience but I don't think we will come back since there is no initiative to correct a visibly bad experience for guests. I guess if you eat here on a non-peak night don't arrive hungry.

I am overall very disappointed with tonight's dinner. I made a reservation 3 weeks prior but was only informed about the set menu on short notice. I thought the Valentines menu was an additional option but I was wrong. I had high expectations, given the numerous positive reviews I have read about this place. The appetizer and sushi were a strong start to the meal. But the main course was a great disappointment. The mashed potatoes were served barely warm (almost cold; which we informed the waitress), the braised beef shank was overwhelmingly salty, and the Brussels sprouts were drenched in oil to the point where they were unpleasant to eat. Our waitress did not seem to take our concerns into much consideration as well which made us feel dismissed. Overall, the dish felt poorly executed and lacked balance. I was hoping dessert would redeem the meal, but unfortunately it fell short as well. The pastry had no matcha flavor and was not crispy but greasy instead, there were no winter berries as advertised.
Another table raised their concerns and were offered a substitution so I felt like my feedback was not taken into consideration.
For what we paid ($200+), we expected quality, attention to detail, and proper execution. Instead, we left feeling frustrated and disappointed. We’ve had far better meals elsewhere for significantly less. This experience did not justify the cost.

I came here today specifically to enjoy the a la carte menu in my Anniversary day, but the experience was disappointing from the start. Although the booking confirmation mentioned an $85 Valentine's menu, I assumed it was just an additional option, not the only choice. To my surprise, there was no a la carte available—only the fixed set menu. The sushi selection was underwhelming, featuring only tuna and another variety with a very fishy aftertaste. The main course was the biggest letdown: the shredded beef with mashed potatoes was far too salty and didn't pair well at all. I might return for their regular sushi, but definitely not for a 'one-option' holiday menu.
Friendly service, nice atmosphere.

Overall disappointing night trying this place for the first time after hearing so many great things online about this establishment.
First off, we'd made a reservation well in advanced (3 weeks) to celebrate a birthday and was a bit shocked by a late notice of the fixed $85 menu that was set for valentines day (weekend?). But understand that it's a busy night so they extended it across the whole weekend to allow for those not wanting to brave the chaotic night. We accepted our fate and expected a pleasant experience, not needing to worry about what to order.
The dinner start out well with a nice sparkling sake to go along with our scallop yuzu crudo and tuna nori taco appetizer.
The nigri and oshi spread was very good and fresh but the hand written edit to the menu was a warning sign of what was to come. (The scallop from the crudo was originally intended for the nigiri but was substituted with hamachi/ yellowtail. Resulting in two of the six sushi pieces being hamachi)
The main dish is where it all went downhill. First, our server informed us that they ran out of the mashed potatoes and asked if we were okay with a rice substitution and offer something else to add to the dish. However, they returned saying the chef was making a fresh batch. However, our mashed potatoes arrived cold... The braised beef shank was overly salty and the Brussel sprouts were way too oily. Unfortunately, the kimchi jam couldn't save the dish from being too rich.
After the disappointing main course, we hope dessert would save the night but we may have been hoping for too much. The pastry again was on the greasy side, a lack of winter berries present as mentioned in the menu, and a lackluster (overused flavour) yuzu cream. Topped off with some pretentious gold leaves.
Of course, one doesn't expect value for money, on special occasion nights like Valentine's Day but for $200 before tip and tax, this really missed the mark.
As for service, I think our waitress was simply just inexperienced, made some mistakes but wasn't for lack of trying. They didn't have much of a response to our complaints with the food which made us feeling overlooked.
I wanted to like this place and come back when they have the regular but after this night's experience I'm hesitant

Our recent experience was unfortunately unsatisfactory. Upon arrival, a pre-set menu was presented, and our party of seven was accommodated at a table designed for six, resulting in a cramped dining environment. The server demonstrated a lack of familiarity with several menu items, necessitating frequent consultations with management. We were informed that a pre-set menu notification had been sent, despite our reservation being made a month in advance and no such communication being received.
The manager graciously made an exception, allowing us to order à la carte. A member of our party has severe food allergies, which we communicated twice prior to ordering. Despite these explicit warnings, approximately half of the dishes served contained ingredients to which this individual is allergic. Fortunately, we meticulously verified all items before consumption, preventing a potentially severe allergic reaction. While the dishes were subsequently replaced, the oversight regarding a severe food allergy, despite prior notification, is a significant safety concern. This incident could have had disastrous consequences.
Therefore, we cannot recommend this establishment for individuals with severe allergies. While the food quality was acceptable, it was significantly overpriced given its caliber. We have experienced superior dining options at a considerably lower cost. We suggest that customers be informed at the time of booking if a pre-set menu will be enforced on the day of their reservation.

My wife and I enjoyed a tremendous brunch yesterday morning at Jfuse. We have dined at this restaurant numerous times and have always eaten very well from their varied menu. This was our first time trying their new brunch menu. The restaurant’s beautiful interior is filled with light from its floor to ceiling windows. The professional service is always friendly and efficient whether for brunch, happy hour or dinner. We have become accustomed to unique dishes at Jfuse and it was no different at yesterday’s brunch. We had their mushroom toast and teriyaki beef eggs Benedict. We opted for half potato’s/half salad to accompany the two dishes. Everything was as simply delicious. The excellent mushroom toast was topped with mushroom tempura and had extra flavour from the addition of truffle oil. The generously portioned teriyaki beef was tender and flavourful and the eggs were perfectly poached. The miso hollandaise added another delicious layer of flavour to the dish. The potatoes and salad were excellent as well. We look forward to returning for brunch again soon as there are many more interesting choices on their menu.

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and we both found it to be very medicore. We ordered the tasting box to share, the salmon crudo and the fatty tuna sashimi. The service and atmosphere were fine, but the quality of the food and the expensive prices were disappointing.
The tasting box was okay, the rolls weren't bad but only because they used so much sauce it masked the bad quality of the fish. The pressed sushi was not great. The best thing we had was the brussel sprout salad.
The tuna sashimi was just bad. You can tell the fish was not fresh from the mushy texture and fishy aftertaste. They use fish that's been frozen for days.
Same with the salmon crudo, weird texture and fishy aftertaste. The dill they used was also not fresh, some of it was yellow.

Finally, a wonderful sushi place in Ottawa with attention to detail, wonderful service and creative ambiance.
Had a awesome experience at Jfuse with friends and family, and also being our second time here. Our 2 waitresses were very accommodating and even helped share the proper way to eat the tako wasabi which was amazing. The drinks came out quickly and efficiently & all our food was brought out the same way, and no one on our table of 7 was waiting to long for their food to come out either. Flavour in the food was incredible & inviting & the sashimi was fresh & full. Atmosphere was busy but to be expected as we were dining in at their peak hour. Overall a very good experience, nothing bad to report.
