Multiple items on the Terrasse menu aren’t available, which the server mentioned to me after I ordered my drink. When I noted that it’s not the first time this happens, the manager kindly came to my table but I had already paid for my drink and notified them I would be eating elsewhere and posting a review. It’s unfortunate and I sympathized with the young waitress who skillfully managed the reaction of other clients as she repeatedly explained the limited menu to them as well. Please do better. I sincerely want to support the Château Laurier.

Amazing view but… I wish the food matched the atmosphere. The pizza was below average, from presentation to taste, something as simple as margarita pizza can be done much tastier and nicer, very deceiving kitchen for this spectacular location, at least dont over price the food it will be below average taste

While staying at the fairmont we were told about fireworks one that were happening so booked a reservation so we could watch them. We went down for our reservation to have some apps and a few drinks. Our table was nice with a decent view of the fireworks. We ordered the beer flight. A pint of beer ( local so im not sure what i had). A sangria and A glass of wine. Food we had pizza and garlic fries. There was 5 of us. Now The beer flight is expensive you get 5 different beer. It is 25 dollars for 5 glasses that are 5 ounces. ( 25 oz is $25) and they all tasted flat. So disappointing. The local pint of beer i had also tasted flat. I gave up no more beer. The sangria was good and the wine was good. The pizza was soggy when you picked up a piece everything slide off so you were just left with the crust. The fries were ok nothing spectacular. We had 2 different times 2 different servers try to bring us someone else's order. They asked if who had this. We told them no one as we were already eating ours. Then 5 mins later someone else tried to bring us someone else's dinner.

Disappointed. Completely overpriced. You’re paying for the view, honestly, which is nice. However, the service was slow and the food was average for the premium price you’re paying. Most apps are above the 25$ mark which is insane. Also, a veggie watermelon Buddha bowl for 38$?! A lobster roll for almost 50$?! A 34$ burger with barely any fries?! Don’t break the bank. You’ll get a better burger at King Eddy’s for half the price and then walk up to Kimeki point or major hill for a better view.

Atmosphere was awesome with polite and welcoming staffs. Menu was limitted despite it offered new tastes but was not my favorite. In general, it is a pretty nice place with a spectacular outdoor design to spend your time with friends and family.

Getting seated turned into a needless hassle — it took the staff five minutes to figure it out, even though the place was nearly empty. Our server was friendly, but the overall service felt low caliber. For the location and the prices, it simply doesn’t measure up. Skip this spot and find somewhere else that delivers on quality.

Based on some of these reviews, i'm not sure people realize just how nuch inflation has hit restaurants recently and how expensive it is to source quality ingredients. Location also dictates pricing - this is true for real estate and it is true for fine dining as well. This restaurant is in a prime location with beautiful views of Parliament and attached to one of the most elegant luxury hotels in Ottawa.
All of that aside, my husband & I found the service here quite good and i was extremely pleased with the food quality. The watermelon gazpacho was divine and the beef carpaccio was delicious - the pistachios went so well with it!
My husband had the burger and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Juicy and flavorful. Side fries were excellent as well.
We would definitely come back!

Today was our autistic son birthday and we decided to treat him at your restaurant La Terrase. The only thing he likes on your menu is really the La Terrase hamburger. However, once sitting down I was surprised that for a price of $38 he did not even get fries, salad or even some bread and butter. Because he loves french fries, we had to expand an extra $8 for approx 8 or 9 fries in a small container.
With taxes it comes to nearly $50 for a simple burger. For a supposedly high end restaurant/experience, this makes you look really bad and cheap/poor and exploitative of any tourist that would dare to sit down at one of your tables.
If you cannot operate your restaurant without charging outrageous prices, you might as well not open at all. I will be leaving Google comments to that effect.

We made reservations last Wednesday to watch the fireworks with our friends who were visiting and staying at the Chateau Laurier. We were looking forward to it as we had even reserved a cabana. The server was so friendly but took forever to take our drink and food order. Then it took forever to get our food and drinks once ordered. And we never got asked if we wanted another round for a long time. The worst part was the smell coming from below, no idea what it was but it smelt like a mix between sewage and garbage. We were so disappointed. Luckily we had a great view of the fireworks and a great visit with our friends. Don’t recommend this place but maybe we picked a night they were under staffed. Food was also extremely over priced.
Charging an arm and a leg for mediocre drink. Service wasn't exceptional either. The only good thing was the location. Save your money for another place..

Disappointing Experience – Not Up to Fairmont Standards
I truly regret not reading the reviews before visiting this location. Our experience started poorly when my wife, who had prepaid for a table with a view, was not provided what she had reserved.
The service throughout the evening was subpar, and the drinks were poorly made. We had to call the manager not once, but twice, just to have the reservation charges corrected. As for the food—it was entirely underwhelming and certainly not worth the high price. What was most frustrating, however, was the lack of accountability. The general manager, Karan Dilsher, demonstrated a disappointing level of incompetence and made no genuine effort to resolve the issues we faced. We’ve stayed at other Fairmont properties in Vancouver and Toronto and had excellent experiences. This location, however, fell far below the standards we’ve come to expect from the Fairmont brand. We will not be returning, and I would not recommend this place to anyone.
