Food was not bad but nothing to highlight - specially for the price point. Service was efficient but impersonal.

The calamari was just outstanding, lightly breaded and fried to perfection!

Delicious food and very nice staff! Dined in like in a five star restaurant. Our server is very accommodating. Will be back again!

Great food and friendly staff but a little pricy

Being from landlocked Alberta, I am always up for a great seafood restaurant. While travelling through Ottawa, we stumbled on Lapointe Fish. The food itself was pretty good. The service was awful. The waitress was not attentive at all, and when she was clearing the table besides us she declared to the other sever "this table didn't give a decent tip to me." Completely unprofessional. It took a long time to get menus, a long time to get water, a long time to order. We sat outside which was pleasant enough on this sunny day. So for the food: Defiantly my rainbow trout was the winner. A perfectly cooked fillet sat on top of roasted baby potatoes, sautéed garlic, spinach and mushrooms with a drizzle of roasted red pepper and lemon sauce. My daughter enjoyed her Penne Pomodorro. Penne pasta with tomato sauce, with shrimp, and bay scallops. The pasta itself was fine, but the seafood was lacking in the dish. My husband got the soup and sandwich of the day...which happened to be a chowder of some sort and a tandoori salmon wrap. He enjoyed it, and in particular the soup was very tasty. However, the food did not make up for the poor and somewhat tasteless service we received. If you want this restaurant's food... I would suggest take out.

The food gets 4 stars. Service 1. We arrived at 7:15, we ordered, the meal arrived at 8:25. There was only 4 meals. The restaurant was 1/3rd full. The waitress served later patrons before us and didn't notice we had not received our meals yet. It's a small restaurant. We had to initiate why our order was not coming. We were told the computer lost our order.

My coworkers and I called on a Monday to make a reservation for 9 of us on Thursday. I had a pretty good discussion with a member of the staff and mentioned we would be in a bit of a time crunch so could we pre order. I was told to call when we were on the way so the meals wouldn't be sitting out waiting for us. I also inquired as to the gluten free fish and chips and dedicated fryers, and informed him that there would be one gluten free order being placed.

On our way to the restaurant Thursday, 30 minutes before we arrived, we started calling to place our pre order. I made multiple attempts and never managed to speak to anyone in the restaurant. Upon arrival I immediately handed our complete orders to the waitress to be placed right away. We were the only customers in the restaurant until noon. This was at 1150. It took an additional 15 minutes to just place our drink orders, and it was 47 minutes before our food came out. We all ordered fish and chips, with the exception of one salad. The other tables who entered the restaurant after us, and ordered LONG after we did, had eaten their appetizers, main meals and paid their bills before our food arrived. I asked after 35 minutes whether it was coming soon and was told it would be a few more minutes. Nothing more, no reasoning as to why it was taking so long. The food did arrive, finally after 47 minutes, and it was delicious. One of the better versions of gluten free fish and chips I have tried. Upon paying when finished, I stepped outside while the rest of my colleagues paid their bills. It was only then that the waitress informed my colleagues that it was MY gluten free fish order that held up everyone else's food and my order was why it took 47 minutes for 8 orders of fish and chips. Its hard enough being a person with Celiac disease, knowing you are holding up others orders, or feeling like a pain when asking 100 questions so you don't get violently ill when eating out. But to have a server blatantly blame you when you leave for your coworkers/friends meals being delayed, and attempting to have them take their frustration out on me instead of the kitchen and wait staff is extremely poor business practice. Its really unfortunate. I can honestly say we will never visit this restaurant again, its very unfortunate. Being placed directly next to a gluten free bakery gives you the opportunity to serve the gluten free community well. You have wasted it, and burned what could be a good group of customers. The services was disgraceful, the wait time was completely unacceptable.

This is one of my favourite seafood restaurants. Delicious food, decently priced and great service. Went just recently to celebrate our 38 anniversary. Dinner on the patio, great ambience, the halibut was scrumptous.

After reading some of the reviews, I decided that this was the place for my birthday dinner. We were seated at a table in the downstairs restaurant by a very pleasant young lady who took our order. When my meal arrived, a linguine dish with seafood in a delicious sauce and, indeed the seafood and sauce were perfect but, clearly, they had no idea how to cook pasta. It was a horrible glutinous consistency which was tasteless completely inedible. I enjoyed the seafood but, left the restaurant still hungry, as I at that stage I didn’t want to risk ordering a dessert.

The pasta we order was so light that it was almost tasteless. The tuna was ok. The chowder was a bit too salty and kind of watery.

Shares the same location with Sushi Fresh. Lapointe gets priority seating though, as we were not allowed to sit on the terrace when eating sushi only. The seats in the basement were quite comfortable and fresh, on a warm summer night, so we did not mind. Customer service was excellent and so were the sushi. I recommend. I would have given 5 stars had we been allowed to sit where we wanted.

Decent prices for amazing food. Had fish n chips in a whole lot of places and have to say the fish was on point. Slaw was good. Fries were good, the fish will not disappoint.

Very good food, well presented and the staff was very friendly and accomodating.

Don’t order the CUP of Chowder - order the BOWL! One taste and you will want more! The Beer Battered Cod was light, flakey and delicious. The batter was not overwhelming- I do not like battered fish that is more batter than fish. And the fries were not over-salted either! Thank you. Excellent service too.
