I ate some cookies with my fiancé. I only had one and felt uncomfortable, but he ate five cookies and got food poisoning. He was sick all day, couldn’t move from bed, and couldn’t eat anything. We went back to return the cookies, since we still had to pay the rest. We explained to them that it made us sick, but the lady kept saying it was impossible and then called her boss. He spoke to us in a mean and arrogant way. We kindly asked them to replace the cookies with fresh ones, but instead they insulted us and said hurtful things. Allah lay sameh. Very bad experience, we will never go back

I had a very bad experience at Le Roi Pasteries & Bakery and would strongly advise others to avoid it. I purchased a 1 kg box of petit fours, only to find the quality shockingly poor — stale, bland, and far from fresh. After eating them, I became sick with food poisoning, which is completely unacceptable for any bakery.

On top of that, I discovered that the box was underweight even though it was sold and charged as a full kilogram. When I questioned this, the staff dismissed my concerns, claimed it was correct, and refused to exchange the product or offer any return. The attitude of the employees was extremely rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful, making an already bad situation worse.

Between unsafe food, dishonest business practices, and terrible customer service, this bakery is one of the worst I’ve dealt with. Customers deserve honesty, quality, and basic respect — none of which I received here. Absolutely not recommended.

My family has been buying cakes from this place for YEARS. We would get their cakes for everyone’s birthdays, minimum 7 times per year not including when we just pick up pastries. Yesterday, I picked up a cake for my brothers birthday. I asked for the strawberry vanilla cake that we order multiple times as it is a family favorite. We started to cut the cake 4 hours after it was picked up, only to find out it was FROZEN and DRY. THE ENTIRE CAKE TASTED LIKE FREEZER BURN! It was still so frozen that the cake and the strawberry filling were crunchy. Everyone threw their piece in the garbage, it was inedible. Total waste. Today we called the owner to let them know about our experience, and he was dismissive and extremely rude. He admitted that the employee should have mentioned it was frozen, but did not offer any apology or compensation as we could not eat it. We will NOT be further purchasing our desserts from an establishment that dismisses loyal customer concerns, and does NOT care about the quality they serve.

Very low quality high price. Pistachio baklava includes a lot of crushed shells.

I was just there today and saw a man worker attack 2 women, one looked like a minor, he attacked them with a knife and a tray. There was blood everywhere and it was so awful to watch. So unprofessional. Someone step up and fire this violent man. The women he attacked was such a sweet heart, I always go there because of her, she has such amazing customer service skills. I am so beyond upset and horrified.

This is the freshest pastry shop for baklawa and mamoul that I’ve ever tasted in Ottawa. I bought a mix of everything including some of the cookies and biscuits (which aren’t always fresh after eid has passed a long time, but this shop? FRESH! Very very good! Give it a try. 10/10

Iordered a cake for my son's birthday, and it was absolutely perfect!
The flavor was delicious, the texture was soft and fresh, and it looked beautiful too. Everyone at the party loved it and kept asking where I got it from.
It tasted homemade and wasn't too sweet — just right. I'm so happy with the quality, and I'll definitely be ordering again for future events.
Highly recommended!

I wanted to bring a tray of sweets at an Eid gathering and was recommended Le Roi by a friend. Not disappointed, everyone loved the baklava!
