Really disappointing experience. Booked in advance for a birthday and had to put credit card details to reserve seats with threat of 25$ charge if the reservation was cancelled. The reservation was made to try different scotch/ whiskeys because of the 'scotch lounge' advertising and the extensive whiskey/ scotch menu posted online. Had to wait 10 minutes after arriving before anyone came to the front of house or acknowledged people waiting at the door. There was no food left, and it felt like the entire evening was spent waiting for a drink (the server came around for a second round when the band had one song left after we had to go to the bar to get our first round of drinks because we had waited 25 minutes after being seated). After going up to the bar and asking about the scotch/ whiskey menu, was informed that there was no menu and it was more of 'you get what you get'. The band was phenomenal and made up a lot of the experience, but will not be returning as a result of the misleading advertising and abysmal service.

We are not fans of your new menu. We would like to see a charcuterie board returned as an option. We also enjoyed your previous grilled cheese sandwiches and would like to see that item returned to your menu as well. Thank you.

Apparently Montgomery is no longer Montgomery.. they used to have over 100 scotches and now it's a random bar running under a different name. Really false advertising having folks book under Montgomery and expecting the same experience, and then finding out it's just another bar with really slow service. Really sad to see one of the few scotch bars in ottawa disappear.

I did not eat the food so cannot comment on that. We specifically went to the lounge to see and LISTEN too the musicians that were booked - paying $15 each for the cover. Unfortunately, during the entire 1 hour set (of some great musicians by the way) we could hear people in the back of the bar talking very loudly -- significantly impacting on our enjoyment of the music. When we talked to the staff about it, they said they would speak to the people but it doesn't seem that they did as the talking continued until my husband went back to do it himself. Needless to say we were thoroughly annoyed and we weren't the only ones! If this is the way the Oat Couture is managing a music venue then I would recommend that interested individuals go elsewhere for a better experience. Perhaps the Oat Couture needs to decide what they want the lounge to be - a music venue at times or a bar. If they continue with music then we would suggest that before the set is due to start, the staff make an announcement to turn off cell phones and respect the silence while the musicians are playing.

From the Scotch, to the music, to the ambience, to the service, to the entertainment, Montgomery Scotch Lounge was an amazing experience. Special thanks to Leslie our server, and the band. You both made our evening out a remeberable experience! Till next time!

This restaurant recently moved location, and unfortunately, Uber guided us to the original location. After hopping into another car and arriving to the correct location we discovered the venue was actually closed despite having been able to make a reservation on OpenTable and confirming on the website with the venue is open on Thursday. Huge bummer really disrupted our night.

Louis was fantastic. The real deal with a wee authenticity. Thanks for your help & knowledge choosing our flights!

Some of their scotches, especially the fancier ones (so exactly those we'd be there to taste as they're the ones we don't own at home) aren't currently available as they're "redoing" their menu (or are they closing the lounge?) Their scotch-based cocktails weren't fantastic, and certainly lacked some creativity. Acoustic wasn't the best for a jazz show, but what made it really worse is that the people at the table behind us wouldn't stop talking during the performance, so much that we couldn't really enjoy the show (for which we PAID), and no one told them anything about that. Ambiance was lacking. Would not go there again.

I am generally dismayed with the poor communications about the venue's change in direction. It seems to be a slap in the face to the patrons who supported live jazz music over the years. I've no wish to be subjected to Muzak like background music like I can have in any elevator. Your food menus is a joke and overpriced. I'm not planning to return unless you keep some live music (not background), I.e., Ed Lister and upgrade your menu

Last nite was my first visit. A nice, laid back atmosphere. Service was spot on. Good music. Good selection of scotch whiskies and a nice whiskey flite menu. We didn't have a meal here. I'll definitely be going back.

You need to update your menu. It's quite pathetic. Also so gentle reminders for diners to keep their conversation levels down while music is on. I have friends who would come to your music events if MSL was more of a listening room

The Montgomery Scotch lounge had a wonderful jazz quartet playing two sets on this evening. We reserved for the first set from 7 until 9 and were not disappointed in the least. The music was superb in this very intimate location. The ambiance was wonderful as no one was seated very far from the musicians. The lounge is known for its outstanding selection of Scotch whiskies and would not disappoint a bona fide Scotch drinker. The wine and beer selections were understandably small but adequate as one does not expect a Scotch lounge to have a wide selection. This is not a place that one goes to for the food. The food menu is minimal at best and is more of a canape style. We had a Ploughmans Lunch ( a fancy name for aa small charcuterie board) along with Buggy Whip - a 4 0r 5 thin sausages with a nice mustard . The Ploughman's had a nice selection of meats and cheeses although the quantity was tiny while the sausages were over cooked and dry and hard to chew. When I do go again I will be sure to have eaten beforehand and only to go to enjoy the live music along with a drink.

A disappointing evening unfortunately. Our last visit was so promising.

The “trio” this evening was a very uninspired “duo” which didn’t interact with the near full house at any time. Music was good but no ambience at all.

Menu is very limited, generally slow, almost “lazy” service.#LetsDoBetter
