This cozy little sushi spot is family-owned and run by a lovely mother-daughter duo, which gives it such a personal and welcoming touch. The space is quite small, but it has a warm and comfortable vibe that makes you feel right at home. They also offer daily specials during the week, which is a nice bonus and shows they care about keeping things fresh and interesting.

I tried both the Tuna Love and Salmon Love combos. Personally, the tuna didn’t impress me much — it lacked the same freshness and flavor that I was hoping for. The salmon, on the other hand, was absolutely fantastic — fresh, buttery, and perfectly cut. I’d honestly go back just for that combo alone.

The gyoza was the only slight disappointment, as it tasted more like something cooked from frozen rather than made in-house. Still, that’s a small trade-off considering how great the salmon sushi was overall.

If you’re looking for a warm, family-run sushi spot with quality salmon and friendly service, this place is a hidden gem worth checking out!

This is a nice little hole in the wall Sushil place. There is seating for about 9 people at most, but it's busy for take out. The service was friendly. The food arrived very quickly. The sushi ( dynamite roll) was very good. The avocado was perfectly ripe, the shrimp was deveined and perfectly cooked. But the rice was the best. It was soft and light feeling. I also had the fried squid. The rings were generous and you could tell it was fresh. It had a nice tempura coating. The squid was cooked to perfection. Not too soft, and not rubbery.
The environment isn't fancy, but it's pleasant. It feels clean despite it being an older building that sees steady business.

Absolutely the best sushi in Ottawa. I'm sad it took us two years to find this place. They also have some delicious Korean dishes as well.

This is mostly a take-out/delivery restaurant but there are a couple of small tables to sit at and a counter at the window. We like to eat in most of the time because we like the tiny low key atmosphere.

Plus, the staff are so kind, polite and friendly!

Great food, great prices and great portions. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.

We got the Friday special this past Friday which was the dynamite roll. We also got the tuna love and the takoyaki. My husband was so sick after eating this. I was not able to eat almost the whole next day. The rice was like bullets. The octopus was so hard like rubber pellets! The ingredients inside the dynamite roll were off colour. They served us food that was old and bad. 🙁? Guess what. I’m never going back now! If they are serving old and bad special rolls what else is going on in this kitchen. You don’t make the dynamite roll fresh? Whatever. Taking down my good review. Thank yo so much for selling me bad food! Not only did we waste 50 bucks but then lost a days pay being sick.
Sad becuase I actually liked this place before this happened, I guess it’s not what it used to be here. Go somewhere else and save yourself getting physically ill! 😷

Really great hole in the wall sushi spot! The quality was amazing. I got takeout and the sushi, sashimi, and inari were all delicious! This would be my go-to sushi spot if I lived nearby. Service was quick and staff are friendly, looking forward to coming back here whenever I’m in Ottawa :)

I tried both the Tuna Love and Salmon Love combos—wouldn’t recommend the tuna, but the salmon was absolutely amazing and worth coming back for. The gyoza tasted like they were cooked from frozen, not house-made, which was a bit of a letdown.

Overall, I’d definitely return just for that Salmon Love combo. Great little hidden gem if you’re in the mood for quality salmon sushi!

Sneaky good sushi place and bang on for the price you are paying. They are a little on the sweet side, but not something that is too much.

Amazing sushi quality and service. I ordered the Special Tray and Maki Tray for four people, and everything was perfect. The rolls were well made, the fish was fresh, and the portions were very good for the price. The sashimi pieces were some of the thickest I’ve ever seen!

The service was also great and the staff were kind. They even gave us spring rolls on the house! I highly recommend On Rice. This was a great experience and I will definitely be back for another meal.
