This place is beyond disappointing. The dishes and plates are filthy, the food tastes old and stale, and the service is unbelievably bad. Honestly, I have no idea how this restaurant is still open. The whole place is disgusting, it smells like a toilet everywhere. Definitely one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

Recently order take out from the Oriental House. Order was ready in 20 minutes. Great Chinese food, and very fresh..I suggest you try their Egg rolls and Spring rolls..very good 👍..also, the vegetable steamed rice, I was very impressed by the freshness of the vegetables in this rice dish..Oriental House offers delivery, I chose the pick up servers..but, if you want, they also have dine in service, got to say it's a very cute atmosphere and when I have dined in had excellent service. And, they also serve alcohol 🍸 drinks on their menu for dine in only.

I am leaving a review to say thank you for the kindness. I came in with my dad to ask if I could use the washroom because I have some health conditions and really needed to, and the woman who greeted us let me very kindly and had a nice conversation with my dad while he waited. We also have eaten here a few times over the years and never had bad food either. Thank you again.

i'm sorry to say that this is not the best chinese place to eat. it surely can be named a fast food - they prepaired everything very quickly for our group but the food looked better on paper. the melon tofu soup was dominated with onion taste and wasn't much tastefull at all. egg noodles seemed right out of the package, not cooked before frying. but the staff is kind, the mood is there.

The staff is super nice and the service is awesome. The beer glasses are even chilled which is an awesome little touch. The vibe is kinda cool being downstair from the street so it feels sorta lowkey which I love. The food, however, is really bland. I know some people might dig that (especially if they have salt or MSG fear) but it's not for me. Definitely under seasoned. Otherwise the food was all cooked reasonable well.
I feel like you can always guage a Chinese restaurant by itself fried rice, and the fried rice was kinda flavorless and generally under seasonsed.
I'll be back to give it another go at some point but even in my hungry as hell state it wasn't giving.

Best lemon chicken in the city! The rice tastes toasty, which is different from other places, but I like it. Eggrolls, hunan dumplings in spicy peanut sauce, mixed vegetables, sticky rice, all very good.
There is a long staircase down to the restaurant (from their street-level door). I have not seen any other entrances.
I've been getting the occasional weekday lunch at this restaurant for many years. The lunch specials are about $20, and I always have enough for 2 lunches!
I am wondering, do you have or offer buffet style food?

Decided to get delivery when staying in Ottawa with my family. The food was excellent, arriving in 20 minutes from the time we placed the order.
We used Oriental House’s own delivery and the driver was very polite and prompt.
The garlic ribs, szechwan chicken, pork fried rice and sweet and sour chicken balls were all very good.
We would recommend this restaurant.

Order through their website to get in-store prices. Free delivery within 4 km of the restaurant, which is rare in Ottawa. Food is tasty. They say they don’t use MSG and I think that’s true because I was not super thirsty after eating. Good portion, fair prices, well packed. Best containers I’ve seen for takeout. Wish they had some better Szechuan menu options and would be better if the online order menu had photos. Ordered: - combo 3 - oriental house chow mien - crispy beef with spicy sauce (comes with rice). Note: it was not crispy just breaded with sauce
