I ordered the chicken ramen for takeout and was extremely impressed. Amazing broth! Probably the best ramen in Ottawa. Definitely will be back for a sit-down experience.

This ramen was excellent. We both ordered the Red Dragon Chili and the broth was rich and flavourful

I had the Assari Light Shoyu. The broth was by far the best part, it was perfectly salty without any visible oil on top, resulting in a nicely emulsified and smooth broth. It still had a deep and slightly nutty flavour while being light enough to drink afterwards.
I liked the marinated egg, it was slightly sweet and the yolk was jammy, paired really well with the broth. The noodles were firm enough while still being bouncy, good mouth feel. A good topping of green onions, lots of places skimp on that so I was pleasantly surprised. I think the dried shrimp/shellfish? topping did not achieve it's desired effect. It felt more grainy like sand instead of being flaky/crispy, maybe that's just because it was soaking in the broth, not a big deal.
My only real complaint is that the cha siu is too salty to the point of overpowering the deeper and more subtle flavours of the dish. Ramen broth is usually salty enough as it is.

9/10 overall :D

I love ramen isshin, hands down my favourite place in Ottawa, my only gripe with them is they only provide 4 pieces of chicken in their karaage, which is insane when it’s $12! Also, because of the plastic takeout container they use for it, it arrives soggy and not crunchy at all. Other places have figured out how to avoid this problem.

Ramen wise, we love the dragon and tsukemen!

We ordered tsukemen, white sesame shio ramen, karaage, and tako wasabi. Overall, everything was good and the service and atmosphere were excellent. However, the ramen felt a bit too salty. We hope the broth can be improved.

Hands down the best ramen I've had in Ottawa. I've tried Sansotei, Kinton, Jinsei, Koichi, and Kuiadore, and none come close to topping Isshin. The spicy vegetarian ramen is to die for. I wish they accepted reservations, as they are (understandably) quite popular and this can lead to longer wait times for a table.

Great place, rediscovered how awesome tsukemen ramens are. We were chasing our souvenir from eating Tsukemen from Kyoto and were not disappointed by these. Highly recommend.

The tsukemen really hit the spot and it was comparable to our travels to Japan. The roasted garlic shoyu ramen was very good but it wasn’tthe best I have had. Just very happy that Ottawa has a couple of authentic ramen destinations, this one included amongst the top 3 in my opinion. Service was courteous and friendly. Restaurant is kid friendly with appropriate cutlery.

The only thing I would critique is the pricing for additional toppings. The meals are quite pricey to start and something as basic as sesame seeds should be included like typical ramen locations. Traditionally, a jar of sesame seeds, chili powder and vinegar are available on the table. For the price of the ramen, these toppings could easily be included and further increase the dine-in experience without feeling nickel and dimed. Overall still a 5 star experience for food taste and service.
