I ordered my usual a dozen egg rolls and I’ve been noticing over time they’ve been getting more expensive but this time they went too far they were overcooked even had a burned type look and texture to the eggroll and I just feel like I couldn’t taste the eggroll like I normally do and enjoy it in the plum sauce and after listening to the owners excuses I had enough!!!
I will never order here again if you wanna spend three dollars and ten cents per egg roll, which is subpar be my guest.
Golden Palace at Woodruff and Carling Avenue hands-down are by far the best now and much bigger and only two dollars per egg roll and very consistent.
I’m truly disappointed with Ruby Inn.

I cannot recommend this place. While the service is friendly, the food quality and value I got for my food was terrible.
My order came to $58 after tax for one General Tsao Chicken, one Sweet & Sour Chicken Balls, and three egg rolls. The woman at the counter did explain portion sizing to me beforehand which was fair and I went ahead anyway (first time, perhaps I’ll be blown away by the quality).
Well…the chicken in the general tsao dish was stale and stringy - not fresh at all, impossible to chew and it went right into the garbage.
The chicken balls were ok, I’ve had much better elsewhere.
Finally, the egg rolls tasted like a cheap knock off you’d find in a freezer section of any grocery store.
Review the menu and you’ll find they’re $3-5 more for everything. For this kind of premium, I’d expect much better in quality than they’re offering. Honestly, you’re better off going back to your favourite Chinese takeout than giving this one a try.

Food was much better when old owners were there. Their prices have gone up drastically!! Spend your money wisely elsewhere.
People are not very friendly either!!

I spent $60 for a no 2 & 12 egg rolls. The quantity was very very very small & the egg rolls were over cooked & dry. I used to go there all the time even from across the city. It will be my last time. What a waste of money....very very very disappointed😞😥

The Chinese Food is fabulous and their Burnt End Egg Rolls are in a class by themselves

Very disappointed - poor experience trying to order takeout delivery. The girl who answered the phone had no people skills whatsoever — very rude. Kept me on hold for 5 minutes then came abruptly said “you’re outside our delivery area - sorry bye!” and abruptly hung up on me!! Didn’t even give me the option to go pick up instead. Not impressed AT ALL! I don’t even care if the food is fantastic…no excuse for such awful service!
Ordered 4 dishes and a wonton soup for delivery. Extremely overpriced - came up to over $120 +tip
Portions are very small - you’d think for $100 you’d get enough for 3 people but it wasn’t! Food was mediocre.
I truly wish this was a full restaurant as it
Really is the best Chinese food in the city. While other places cut corners , this place maintains the best dishes as it always has
I was a regular customer with Ruby's and after the original owners sold the business it went to hell. The food is awful poor quality and small portions. I will never purchase from them again.

I have been ordering Chinese Food from this restaurant for approximately 40 years. It was until approximately 5years ago the place to go in the South End. Food like the Golden Palace was always on the slightly high side but the quality was exceptional.
That has now all changed.
Food is inferior quality with the same high prices.
Stay away.

It may look a little run down, but don't let that fool you. Best chinese food in the city. Try the beef hunan, it's amazing

I’ve ordered from this place a couple times in the past the food is OK. The portions are horrible and the woman that works. There has zero people skills and completely ignorant to the customers. I called on New Year’s Day for a combination plate and I was told that there was no combination plates on that day and no half orders, if I wanted to order supper for me and the family it would’ve caused well over $80. That’s when I found another Chinese restaurant that I am now a regular customer too and I will never go to Ruby’s again.

Hello, Bonjour
I am writing to give the owner some feedback on our takeout order today but could not obtain the email address.
Our order consisted of four eggrolls($12.40), beef fried rice ($12)and Cantonese chow mein ($20) We received only one fortune cookie. The total came to $50.74
In comparison Craig Henry Chinese food that we sometimes order from offers these prices:
four eggrolls($6.80), beef fried rice ($9.55) and Cantonese chow mein ($15.35) One fortune cookie .65). =$32.35 + tax = $36.55
The total is a difference of $14 for 3 items!
While we have enjoyed food from the Ruby Inn before, we believe you should lower your prices to keep in line with competitors.
