The food is refreshing and flavourful, and the owner is a pleasure to speak to. They are professional and reliable, and mashallah they understood our needs very well. They are thorough with dietary restrictions. It was so tasty and very generous with portion.

We went to Sabaya on a whim. Had never been before. We got beef and lamb stews and a mango shake. The food was all really good. We didn't realize there was nowhere to sit, so we ordered and waited on the car. We took the food to go and found a park picnic table nearby. The stew had spilled a bit in the bag. I think it would probably do this any time someone orders delivery.
Good overall, just didn't realize there was nowhere to stay. :)

As someone from London, I’ve experienced my fair share of incredible international cuisine, but Sabaaya Shack’s Ottawa location genuinely impressed me. It’s rare to find a spot that captures authentic Somali flavors while blending them with a clean, modern aesthetic and welcoming vibe.
The sabaayad was perfection crispy, flaky, and just the right balance of chewy. The suqaar, bariis, and especially the lamb shank were on point. You can tell the chefs cook with heart, and the spices hit that nostalgic note I’ve missed since moving from the UK.
Sabaaya Shack isn’t just a place to eat; it’s a place to feel at home.

Ordered takeout from Sabaya Shack last night. The young man who served us was friendly and efficient. I had the Beef Wrap—tender beef with fresh veggies in a soft sabaya. My husband enjoyed the Chicken Alfredo; the creamy sauce and grilled chicken were a hit. We also tried the Mango Milk Shake with Ice Cream—refreshing and sweet! Highly recommend this spot for flavorful Somali cuisine. We’re definitely coming back!

Very terrible. Don't even waste your time there. I ordered beef roll and it was too much oily enough for it to drip off my hands. Instead of wrapping it with a source they used oil instead which was disgusting. I unwrapped it to eat only the meat but it was too oily too that I even puked after. Very terrible. Very unprofessional. Very unhygienic!!!
