My favourite ramen spot in Ottawa! definitely give it a try. Proportions and the service is great. taste is immaculate. You usually have to wait outside for dinner, as the restaurant is small and crowded. The wait is always worth it though!

I’ve been coming to Sansotei Ramen for quite some time, and it never disappoints. My personal favourite is the Spicy Tantan — the broth is rich, full of flavor, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of heat. It’s comforting yet exciting with every bite.

Another standout is the Miso Black, which has a deep, savory broth accented by fragrant garlic oil and topped with chashu pork so tender it melts in your mouth. Both bowls are consistently well-executed, with noodles cooked to perfection and eggs that hit that golden, creamy sweet spot.

The sides are definitely worth exploring as well. The gyoza dumplings are solid and satisfying, but the deep-fried chicken wings steal the show — crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor.

I went to Sansotei Ramen on Bank Street with my three boys because they absolutely love ramen. We ordered the Tantan Spicy Ramen, Shoyu Ramen, and Tonkotsu Ramen, along with Zangi as a starter and some pops. Everything was top-notch — the taste, the service, and the quality of the ramen were all excellent. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It’s now our top ramen restaurant in Ottawa! Highly recommended.

I’ve always loved Sansotei Ramen, and the Bank Street location absolutely lives up to the same great standard as the Merivale one — even though the vibe and staff are a bit different, you can still feel the same care, intention, and quality that make Sansotei special.

The atmosphere here has its own charm — a little more urban and lively, yet still warm and welcoming. The team was friendly and attentive from start to finish, making sure everything was just right without hovering. You can tell they take pride in what they do and genuinely care about the guest experience.

As always, the ramen was incredible — rich, balanced broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and beautifully prepared toppings. Every detail feels thought-out, from the presentation to the timing of the service. It’s consistent, satisfying, and clearly made with intention, which is what keeps me coming back to Sansotei again and again.

It’s refreshing to see a restaurant that can grow and have different locations while maintaining the same heart and values that make it shine.

If you’re in the area and craving comforting, authentic ramen with kind service and great energy, the Bank Street Sansotei is absolutely worth a visit. You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next bowl. 🍜

I was in Ottawa for 2 hours. I needed lunch before heaving back to the airport. Ramen is always a great idea.

Sanaotei was excellent. I had the Black Tonkotsu Ramen. Thin noodles. The noodles were 10/10 with a great chew factor while the broth was rich and delicious.

The food was very tasty and I would recommend it anytime/ return when next in town.
Of the three ramen we had, the black miso was my personal favorite. The gyoza were outstanding, too. The service was very friendly but UTTERLY DISORGANIZED. The restaurant is clearly missing a trick and should review their dining room operations and processes as they have a ton of untapped potential to improve.
Here some observations meant to stimulate a healthy internal review:
The long line outside was disorganised with pick-up and dine-in lines being eventually divided. We were seated 5 minutes after the table had been cleared and cleaned. We were given a menu 5 minutes after being seated. These are 10 wasted minutes for the restaurant on a single table and while we were there we noticed it was the norm; extrapolate that to the entire evening and you see how financially beneficial reviewing processes would be for the restaurant.
- In Japan, when queuing outside a ramen restaurant, you are given the menu outside and the order is taken at the door. It cuts down time and increases the engagement of your guests on their way in.

After ordering, we were asked 3x if we had already ordered. This is very surprising in a restaurant that seats 25-30 people. There were also remarkably many items delivered to the wrong tables and/or discussions between staff members on where an order should go.
- drive a clear division of labor and clear accountability.

Tldr; very good food, friendly service, disorganised.

Absolutely amazing! If there’s one place in the city I can recommend it’s definitely here! Everything is absolutely to die for.
The service was actually really quick I’ve heard it can be a long wait and it gets busy but I think we waited only like 15 or so minutes as a walk in. Service was really nice and friendly and once the food and drinks started coming out it was very very quick for that as well.

I can’t wait to come back! Thank you so much.
