Accidentally found this place open during a walk and saw the butter chicken special.
Not many people and dined in.
Relax type of service and appears to be a rather small kitchen.
However, setting is elegant and found is amazing. Staff is friendly and responsive.
A recommendation.

Ordered Takeaway - paid 10$ for this meagre assortment of chutney and pickles. Very disappointed in the small quantity for the price. Like this is one tablespoon of tamarind sauce. Otherwise food was tasty.
We enjoyed dinner at Shafali's, the food and service was excellent! Authentic Indian dishes with a mix of spices and the garlic naan bread was delicious. The wine that was suggested paired nicely with our food.

Excellent food and service, authentic cuisine, walking distance from downtown hotel. Saag lamb and butter chicken both delicious, and the rice pudding was a nice touch. Absolutely recommend.

Great food, great service, very warm and cozy ambience. Went there for dinner with my friends. The guy serving us, Ali, was very hospitable and accomodating. Do visit if you are looking for warm ambience and quality time.

We discovered Shafali while looking for vegetarian friendly restaurants in the area where we were staying. My family had a great time at this independent, family owned restaurant that served up some truly amazing Indian cuisine. The starters, entrees and the best mango lassi I’ve ever had. Our server Ali was super accommodating and informative when we had questions about the menu. Highly recommend if looking for a sit-down dinner experience in the Byward Market vicinity.

We ordered delivery to try a new Indian place and are utterly disappointed by all the dishes ordered. The naan was burnt and also too thick. The Biryani had no flavour of the basmati rice or any of the subtle spices that make a real Biryani. The Paneer tasted stale and the sauce was too oily (see photo), with the spices used not blended in and tasted almost powdery/pasty. The eggplant in the Baingan Bharta was not properly cooked (see photo) and is definitely not an authentic recipe, and could barely eat it. How can they possibly get it this wrong!!
