BUGS IN THE FOOD!!! Literally a bug crawled out of my plate as I was eating! Absolutely disgusting!!!! Then I lookd at the food itself and found multiple dead ones!

Recently moved to Ottawa and wanted to try a new shawarma spot. I heard about this spot from my colleagues and decided to give it a try. I usually go to new king shawarma (not king shawarma) which is also on bank street which has set the bar for me. I ordered the chicken platter here and found the chicken to be super dry and burnt. Portions were good. The service was super friendly and I don’t have any complaints about that. The restaurant was notably clean although there were a few homeless seated inside which made me uncomfortable. I didn’t really enjoy the food or find it anything special but don’t want that to be conflated with the friendly service that I received.

I bought a shawarma and it was a complete disappointment. It was extremely dry, almost impossible to eat, I had to drink water with every bite. There was very little filling, which definitely does not justify the price. The meat looked old and not fresh, which completely ruined the experience. I will not be coming back and do not recommend this place.

Saw cockroaches roaming around in the shop. Still gave it a chance. Got back home with shawarma. Opened the box and cockroaches were strolling in it.
Called him to complain, he hung up after listening. So, I guess, don’t go there if you don’t want to eat cockroaches.

Prices have gone wayyy up. Portions have gone too. Absolutely cheated out of a meal. Almost no garlic sauce or hummus. Too bad will find new place been going there for fifteen years but lots of shawarma options in Ottawa.
I don’t leave reviews too often, but this one felt warranted. Unfortunately, most of the chicken was very dry — and I mean borderline jerky dry for a good bunch — which is the main reason I’m writing this.
I used to work a few doors down and remember the chicken and falafel sandwiches being fairly good (not life-changing, but solid), so I was genuinely looking forward to this meal. That made tonight’s order a bit of a letdown.
On the positive side: the salad veggies were fresh, the spicy garlic sauce is tasty, and the potatoes had good flavour… they just needed a little more crisp to get there. The hummus was fine, but nothing memorable.
Overall, I was pretty disappointed this time around, especially given better experiences in the past. Hopefully this was just an off night.

Got the sandwich platter tonight for a late dinner delivery. The chicken shawarma contained all my fav ingredients. The garlic sauce is always a winner so got an extra one. The potatoes were on point with flavour and were warm. I thought the platter would include rice but maybe I'm mistaken. I did get a rich lentil soup which tasted really good on its own or with some pita bread. Highly recommend!
