The atmosphere was great, but it was far too noisy. The food was excellent. It was my friend’s birthday, and we asked for a small cupcake or brownie. They did provide one but charged us for it—whereas in many other places, a small treat like that is complimentary for customer satisfaction.
The service was a bit slow (I was done my first pint before the server came to take our orders), even though anything we ordered came out quick. Just really slow to take our orders, and no checks between dropping off food and bringing us the bill. That aside, they have a great selection of taps. I'm a cider drinker, and I liked having 4 to choose from. The food portions were also decent sizes, and tasted pretty good (I had a well-proportioned Shepherd's Pie, and my spouse...
Spent a memorable night with colleagues at Sir John A Pub during my stay in Ottawa, enjoying good beers so kindly served by Sofia! A pub that I definitely recommend and where I will come back for sure.
