We went for a Christmas party and the venue was nice and beautiful the staff was very friendly however the hot food was served on cold plates thus making the food lukewarm. The cold buns were brought to us after we finished our lukewarm soup. And the order of service was not kind to any of the vegetarians in the room because we started out with everyone that ordered chicken getting theirs, then everyone that ordered salmon getting theirs next, and the last people on the list to get their meals were the vegetarians. As the plates were cold you can imagine that anyone polite enough to wait to eat their chicken and salmon before their friends got their vegetarian meal had a nice cold dish in front of them. In future please consider serving all the guests a table at one table before moving on to the next table in this manor. The bar service was also very slow because there were only 2 people working our relatively large crowd. Everyone was friendly though the staff were exceptionally kind and the bathrooms were clean, which I really appreciate. If you really want to up your game, please teach your servers to carry trays (more than 2 dishes per trip), and get some plate warmers going on in the kitchen. Cold plates are not a part of exceptional food service. My husband and I have quite a bit of experience with catering and serving, so we hope that this feedback is helpful making things even better.

First time, LAST time! One hour facial with an add on turned out to be approximately 42 minutes. Appointment was booked for 10:00 -11:00. The individual brought me into the room, clock read 10:11 Changed and waited for the individual to return. Checked the clock when I heard the knock, it was 10:18. Add a minute or too before starting. Nothing was said during facial about products, about add on that I paid extra for. She left room at 11:02 Not acceptable, considering the price paid for 60 min +. Had lunch, walked a trail, used hot tub, then went to pay. I asked for a receipt of what I was charged. The charge was for the wrong lunch item. I then had to asked for a refund plus the taxes charged. She was kind enough to say, "I didn't charge for the coffee you had"!

We took the ATV tour at Strathmere and it was great! Ali (the tour guide) was very friendly and made sure that we were comfortable and safe with using the ATVs. Highly recommend if you're a beginner and are looking to try an ATV for the first time!đ

Beautiful Setting with Room for Improvement
I recently attended a wedding at Strathmere, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. The location is absolutely stunningâset on 200 pastoral acres just outside of Ottawa, it offers the perfect blend of countryside charm and convenience. The grounds are impeccably kept, with beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, nature trails, and farmland that add so much to the overall ambiance. It truly felt like a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle.
Strathmere offers three wedding venues, and I had the chance to explore them all. Each one was gorgeous and unique, giving couples plenty of choices to fit their vision for their special day. The restored barn, in particular, has this amazing rustic vibe that feels like a step back in time, adding a lot of character to the event.
However, as a wedding guest staying overnight, I did notice a few areas that could be improved. The room I stayed in, while clean, felt somewhat outdated. The amenities werenât quite up to the standard youâd expect for a place that markets itself as Ottawaâs premier wedding venue. The heaters were noisy, which made it hard to sleep, and the door locks could definitely use an upgradeâthey felt a bit finicky. Itâs clear that the rooms are ready for some renovations or updates.
In summary, Strathmere is a beautiful place with a lot to offer, especially for weddings. The grounds are breathtaking, the wedding venues are top-notch, and the food is incredible. A few updates to the accommodations, though, would go a long way in elevating the guest experience. Despite that, I would definitely recommend it, especially for anyone seeking a serene, picturesque setting near Ottawa!

The location The lands and the heritage buildings offer a very quaint, romantic and timeless elegance fit for any wedding. When you have a setting as stunning as this, you've automatically elevated the overall feeling and frame for your special day. The grounds are well kept, there are lush fields, beautiful gardens, majestic trees and each building has so much personality. Absolutely wonderful!
The venue (The Farmhouse) We picked the Farmhouse venue. This is the smallest option at Strathmere, which was perfect for our intimate 42 guest wedding. I personally felt it was also the most romantic and vintage looking building, which really matched the classic and elegant wedding theme we were going for.
The farmhouse has personality, my guests are still raving about all the different areas they could choose to spend time in, from the bar area, to the salons, lounges, outdoor veranda, dining hall, or even outside by a cheery crackling fire with overhead fairy lights. This allowed all of my guests to gather, get to know each other, share beautiful moments, in a very comfortable and elegant setting.
The Rooms (Schoolhouse and Farmhouse)
Every room was perfectly kept, everything was clean and well stocked. We wanted for nothing. Beds and pillows were comfy. Considering we had a June wedding in a heritage building I need to absolutely praise the AC systems that have been put in place! I'm delighted to say I was cold at night and did actually need to curl up right under the blankets, which is preferred on a hot summer night.
I decided to book the Schoolhouse for my bridal party, what a lovely little venue! Very cheery space, and allowed myself and my bridesmaids to get ready on site the morning of the wedding. I don't recommend using this space to get ready if you're more than 7-8 people getting hair and makeup done at this site. This was the size of my group, and it worked well, but if you're a very large group it may be too snug. Just food for thought in your decision making process!
The Food Absolutely decadent, hearty, healthy Delicious!!! From the hors d'oeuvres, to the actual diner and late night snack bar everything was very fresh, extremely tasty and made with quality ingredients. I already tried to replicate my wedding meal at home, because the menu really was that inspiring! My guests all raved about the quality and freshness of their meals, everyone was very well fed. Great drink selection too, and reasonable pricing in my opinion considering the industry standards.
The Day of Coordinator Meghan is legendary. It's beyond me how she manages to get everything running so smoothly, but everything went off without a hitch. I never saw her standing still, she worked so very hard on my wedding day. She is an extremely detail oriented, caring, talented and compassionate person. I'm very thankful to have been paired with her, and am very touched that she poured so much effort and energy into my wedding even though she must be doing tons of these every single week. She made me feel very supported and secure on a day that it mattered the most.

No refunds, no help, very abrupt once they have your money.Hate even driving by their location..
The Farm House at Strathmere has beautiful architecture! Itâs surrounded by manicured gardens and the sun sets perfectly in the back fields (which I obviously care about as a photographer). The intimate ceremony space is surrounded by tall trees and is especially gorgeous in the fall. When transitioning from dinner to reception, staff invites your guests to the lounge/bar area while they flip the room to be perfect for dancing. You can also do a first dance outdoors (weather permitting)!

Went for a fall tasting 2024 for an upcoming wedding in October. The food was amazing. We had the opportunity to taste all of the appetizers and 4 entrés and the dessert. All our questions were answered. We were also provided with à detailed information package.
