I had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had at the Subway located in Tanger Outlets Ottawa, and it was entirely due to the behavior of an employee named Hardi. From the moment I approached the counter, his attitude was dismissive, rude, and completely unprofessional.
Instead of greeting customers or even acknowledging my presence, Hardi acted annoyed that I was there at all. When I tried to place my order, he interrupted me multiple times, spoke in a sharp and condescending tone, and made me feel like I was inconveniencing him by simply asking for standard sandwich options. Basic requests—things that are literally part of Subway’s service—were met with eye rolls and sarcastic responses.
What really stood out was how uncomfortable the entire interaction felt. Customer service is about making people feel welcome, or at the very least respected, and Hardi did the exact opposite. He rushed through the order aggressively, barely listened, and showed zero patience. When I asked for clarification on an ingredient, he responded rudely instead of just answering the question like a professional should.
The food itself wasn’t even the main issue—it was the attitude. A bad attitude can completely ruin an experience, and that’s exactly what happened here. Tanger Outlets is a busy shopping destination, and people expect friendly, efficient service. This Subway completely failed in that regard because of this employee’s behavior.
I’ve been to many Subway locations, and this was by far the worst customer interaction I’ve had. Employees like Hardi reflect poorly on the entire brand. Management seriously needs to address this, because no customer should be treated with such disrespect. I won’t be returning to this location, and I would caution others to be prepared for extremely poor service if Hardi is working.

I had a very disappointing experience at this Subway location. The staff treated us very rudely. When I asked for my sandwich to be double grilled, they gave rude looks and made us feel uncomfortable. I also asked about the sauce options, but the staff member spoke very fast, was impatient, and gave off very negative vibes. Customer service was poor, and we did not feel welcomed at all. I expect better behavior and respect from staff.

Happened a lot of times. Staff is so unfriendly they just rush and don't even let the customer speak. Very disrespectful. I understand you're busy but if you won't let your customer speak how they gonna be satisfied with your service. There was girl attending us today named Mandi. Have some patience, chill!!
Or hire more staff so they won't struggle serving customers happily.

I was there with my family to grab subway. They make me disappointed. I’ve just asked extra toast and she was shaking her head. After that she started to talk with the colleague in Punjabi. I understand Punjabi well, she was talking shit about me. I asked to call manager and she replies that there is no manager here today. I don’t know her name she refused to give it and she has no badge as well. Customer service is very low. She also continue argue with me with loud voice, gave me attitude for a small request.

Probably the worst Subway in Ottawa. Cranky & unhelpful staff. Very stingy with portions of protein & veggies. Most times I go they are out of bread and the lettuce always seems to be brown. I get that maybe they are understaffed and deal with rushes but I constantly have to ask for extra of any toppings and it feels like pulling teeth. They literally count every shred of lettuce. Lol. A little smile goes a long way when preparing people's food. Thing is I am a recruiter who is always looking for new talent for my team. I would not hire anyone from this location. 2/10 overall. Be better! Its Subway not Rocket appliances.

Totally bad experience. Girl named Payal was taking orders was very rude . She didn’t toast veggies ( we asked her toast with veggie patty) even the veggie patty wasn’t properly toasted . My husband asked her to toast it but she clearly denied to toast because of rush.

Really bed experience, didn't toast my veggie petty perfectly, chees is very less, thet only put limited counted veggie inside they count 4 tomato and 6 Cucumber inside footlong.

Accepted my online order and when I arrived to pick it up they said sorry we have no bread so we can’t make your order, rather than just cancelling/refunding order on the app and wasting my time driving here.

My mother and I had an extremely disappointing experience at this Subway location on October 26th around 5:45 PM, and I would strongly discourage anyone from visiting.

We attempted to place our order through the Subway mobile app to use a promotion offering buy one footlong, get one 6 inch for $1.99. However, the app stated that the store was not currently accepting mobile orders. We approached the staff for assistance, and the first employee we spoke to (the one preparing sandwiches) told us that although the promotion was technically online-only, we could scan the main code from the app at the register and the offer should still apply.

While we were discussing this, a second employee interjected in a very rude and argumentative manner, saying that it was “not their problem” that the app wasn’t working. Despite her attitude, we decided to continue with our order based on what we were told by the first woman, under the impression that we were able to use the coupon.

When we reached the register, the second employee rang in our order and scanned my mother’s app code as instructed. She stated that the coupon did not appear, and when my mother politely asked what could be done, as we were told we could use it, the employee became aggressive and confrontational. The two staff members contradicted each other — the first denying what she had previously said, stating she had never told us we could use it — and neither made any attempt at all to resolve the issue. The second employee repeatedly said it was “not her problem”, and after aggressively and argumentatively going back and forth with my mother at the cash register for over a minute, finally insisted we pay full price.

At that point, due to their unprofessional, rude behavior and unwillingness to help, we decided to leave the food behind and exit the store.

I have also put in a formal complaint to corporate, as it seems many other individuals have experienced the same treatment.

Overall, this was one of the worst customer service experiences we’ve had. The staff were rude, dismissive, and provided contradictory information. We left feeling disrespected and frustrated. We will not be returning to this location, and I strongly advise others to avoid it as well.
