Stopped here for dinner. The setup is a little strange - you have to get in line to order food and then find a table (it’s open seating). They give you a number and bring your food to your table. If you want to order an alcoholic drink, you need to go to the bar to order (you can’t order it with your food). Hot dogs were okay, not bad but nothing special. However, the seating was comfortable, the atmosphere was relaxed and the views were great.

What a wonderful place in summer time! We stumbled upon this nice patio in this park. We were just in Ottawa for a day, but we would definitely come back. It’s such a nice area, so green, many flowers and many family’s. The patio was quite busy but not too crowded. They had nice drinks, 🍹 sangria, wine and mocktails. Quite a variety for hot dogs too.

Tavern on the hill is an Ottawa's gem! Great show with fireworks in the background while you eat a nice sandwich. Spent quality time with my mom, this place is a hit 10/10. There are lineups though because it's busy, so make sure to arrive early to reserve your seats! Or call ahead! ?

Very disappointing. On a recently warm and gorgeous evening in October, we visited the Tavern on the Hill during a bike ride. The setting is spectacular - great views of the Ottawa River & Parliament. The Tavern has very nice patios with a variety of comfortable seating, with bike racks within a safe view. All sounds good so far, doesn't it? Unfortunately the food was a giant let-down. First, it was all served in plastic take-out containers. What a huge amount of waste we created with 4 of us there for dinner :-( $17 for a single cold pita in a plastic clamshell sliced into small wedges and served with small plastic tubs of hummus & pesto, and even smaller plastic tubs of some pickled vegetables. So. Much. Plastic! The other food we ordered was no more inspiring. The grilled veggie sandwich was cold and a bit soggy - tasted like it was in its paper wrapping all day. Etc. The food was basic, expensive and very disappointing. The potential of the location is so high, the reality is sad. Come on Tavern! Step up your food game to match your very nice patio and fantastic location.

Mediocre food, no table service but the outdoor setting is beautiful with a perfect view on Ottawa River, parliament hill and Major's Hill park. The food and drinks are mediocre to poor quality, but we go there to enjoy the view.
