Went there three times. First two experiences were great. But the third one, not so much. The bartender lacked the basic social interaction (no how are you, no welcome to the royal oak, no how is your day etc) and cut me off after a single hour. I ordered the fish and chips special, but the fish had no flavor, not even salt. The service is good, but I wouldn't eat anything again, just drinks and appetizers/snacks.

I was witness to racial profiling at this establishment. A black man ordered a glass of the best wine available and was immediately requested to pay. I had been sitting down with a beer, unrequested to pay, for at least 10 minutes. Upon my inquiry as to why this fellow was to pay immediately, I was met with hostility by an un-seasoned young bartender. Before I knew it all hostility was thrust upon me by the establishment. I would avoid this bar by all means necessary based on a lack of professionality and common human decency.

A favorite Friday night dinner place with anywhere from 3 to 10 people in my dinner group. Last night there were 5 of us and everyone's food was unanimously acclaimed as delicious. I had the poutine which was savory and delicious. The beef gravy was perfect and the cheese was plentiful. The 9 ounce glass of house red Cab Sauve was perfect.
