Visiting from the UK and this restaurant was a recommendation. The food was delicious and plentiful - in fact it was too much and I should have asked to take the leftovers! The serving staff were fantastic and patient with our large group. If I'm ever back in Ottawa, I'll be coming back to this restaurant.

Food was good, but overpriced for what you get. Service was excellent.

If prices were 20% cheaper it'd be a 5/5. Atmosphere and food quality don't demand the prices they charge, but it was all tasty.

We liked this place. Staff was very friendly, nice decor, the food was good. Not much else to say, Sunday night in Ottawa.

The food & service is amazing but the size of the platters went down a lot. It assumes it would have a lot of food since it’s 3-4X the price of anything else on the menu but we were left starving after trying to share it between 2 of us. They used to have 2 sandwiches and 4 fishcakes, and now its down to 1 sandwich, 3 fishcakes for example..

Loved our visit to whalesbone before a show. Great food and service. The desserts though felt like they came out of a box, would love to see more creative.

Delicious food and attentive service at this beautiful seafood themed restaurant in downtown Ottawa. I was there with a group of five people in total and we had a lovely dining experience, including good wines and delicious food. Not an expensive, but definitely a great experience!

Was our first time but certainly not our last. My BF is a chef here back home in Laval Quebec and he was very impressed with the quality of the food and the energy of the staff. Barns was a great oyster teacher 😉
We'll be back very very soon .

Beautifully cooked food. Regardless of the elevated-pub atmosphere, don't expect massive portions, but expect the moderate portion to be cooked with high-quality ingredients and great care, with unique take and flavour.
You do pay high enough prices to justify memorable dishes, but not so much that it's mismatched with the relaxed, pub-like environment.
