Had an amazing experience in 5 course blind testing menu…Chef did customize the menu as per pure vegetarian option and curated awesome dishes….good to see some modern take on Indian cuisine and uniqueness in Ottawa. Would definitely visit again and recommend. Kudos to Vaishnavi (chef) for amazing desert…SUPERB EXPERIENCE :)

I sent emails over a 2 week period to ask if they can accommodate dietary restrictions and I got no response. Would have been ok, if they said not possible but to not even reply. Horrible service!! Going to book elsewhere.
Dietary restrictions: Did not respond to possibly manage around dietary restrictions.

Delicious! We appreciated hearing the story behind each dish that was presented. The whole experience was very thoughtfully done. The wine pairing option absolutely enhanced the experience and felt worth it. Both those who were eating the meat option and the vegetarian option for the 8-course menu were very satisfied. Thank you, Katha!

We just finished the most wonderful meal at Katha tonight. 8 courses that brought equal parts nostalgia mixed with innovation. Truly talented chefs (Vaishnavi, Shantanu and Hari). Each dish was uniquely prepared and beyond delicious. Highly recommend!! Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Katha, meaning "story," is more than just a name—it's a concept brought to life through an exquisite culinary journey. This Ottawa gem is not merely a restaurant; it's a collection of narratives woven together by the creativity and skill of its chefs. Each dish at Katha is a chapter in an ongoing tale, reflecting the chef's unique personality and artistic flair. The flavors are distinct and memorable, each one telling its own story and leaving you craving more. You'll find yourself captivated by the thoughtful and inventive dishes transforming each morsel into a new experience. Katha stands out as a jewel in Ottawa's culinary crown, delivering not just exceptional food but a memorable experience that lingers long after the last bite. Hats off to the talented chefs for their brilliant storytelling through cuisine. This is a place you absolutely must visit to savor every flavor and narrative.

A beautiful and creative menu - 8 course tasting menu at similar price points to other high-end restaurants in town but it felt fresh and exciting. Excellent service, details shared about each dish, lovely and warm atmosphere. It is a great spot for a special celebration and worth the price.

A marvelous restaurant, and, as other reviewers have mentioned, worthy of a Michelin star. The space is small but not claustrophobic; the decor is attractive and muted. Service is a perfect balance of attentive but not intrusive, friendly but professional. Each dish in the eight-course tasting menu is complex, with a variety of flavours and textures, that all come together into a harmonious whole. As you might expect, the flavours are bold, but none are the least bit uncomfortable. Each dish is served by a chef, who lists the main ingredients and describes the dish culturally and regionally. When we were there, the dishes arrived at a good pace, and the whole process took a little over two hours. Of course, food of this quality is eaten slowly, each mouthful savoured. The only quibble I have is the choice of music while we were there: classic and alterative rock (e.g., Tubthumping by Chumbawamba and the Foo Fighters) -- fine choices in another context, but it seemed a little incongruous to my ears. Nevertheless, it's hard to imagine a better culinary experience. Highly, highly recommended.
Vegetarian options: We called ahead and asked for plant-based food, and the restaurant was happy to comply.
Kid-friendliness: I'm not sure this is the right place for kids. I believe the only food offered is an 8-course tasting menu.

Check your hours on Google. Says 11 pm but you close at 9 pm.
I mean this with absolutely no disrespect, but we just really did not like the food at all. Some of the foods just tasted bad. Some were boring. And the textures were SO off for a few items. For example the “roti” was literally hard as a rock. Not edible.
(I should add we came here in June so I don’t know if maybe they’ve improved the food since then…)
