Been here a few times, always good and the people friendly. Except this time around... We got served our lunches.. no forks, so we had to ask 2 times to get forks... The server brought us plastic forks.... Saying there was no more regular forks ?!? In a huge restaurant ?? ... Why not clean 2 forks.. Anyways. We ate our entire lunch with plastic forks.. when it was time to pay the bill , he brought the machine , payement went thru and he left the table without saying anything... not even a thank you or good day ? A disappointing visit to Zaks that was expensive

Burgers was great but staff not friendly. Only one man was sympathie but the lady who welcomed us was not friendly and not professional. She seems lost and bored by our venue.

Ally was our server.
Breakfast Sunday morning at 9am.
Refreshing to be treated so well.
What a nice person, she was cheery and attentive for the four of us.
This is the way every restaurant should be.
Thank you so much for the great service Ally.

Welcoming atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff who always have a coffee pot in hand, delicious food and fair prices. Highly recommend, and would happily return!

A great diner to go to, we were served by Jade who was lovely and very helpful.
Lots of food options well so no issues on that front.
Had the Honey Garlic wings and a Chocolate Shake which did not disappoint at all.
Would definitely add to the list to visit if you are in the area.

Very good service from all of the staff. Food was decent, though not extraordinary. Portion sizes were on the smaller side, considering the price and being a popular tourist spot. I wouldn't have minded paying a bit higher as long as you are served a proper sized burger and side. Fries have room for improvement by using fresh thick cut potatoes.

Other than the milkshakes, everything else tastes bad.

You'll never be excited for Zak's food but you won't be disappointed either. It's a steady, consistent level of food and service. Milkshakes are really good and there are so many to choose from which is nice.

Zakās Diner is a retro gem that's been comforting Ottawa diners since 1986. Its all-day breakfast, burgers, milkshakes, and poutineāmade with locally sourced ingredientsāoffer a warm, timeless experience. Multiple convenient locations, including ByWard Market and Elgin Street, make it easy to visit.
Itās family-friendly, open late (some even used to be 24/7), and great for casual meals and coffee catch-ups. That said, prices have crept up, and the value may feel off for larger groups or fussy eaters. Still, for a nostalgic comfort-food fix, Zakās hits the spot.

We got milkshakes to go and they were great! They are able to make them with lactose free ice cream and also a vegan version as well!

The burgers were ok, fries a bit cold. My son was being a 4 year old jerk. The waitress handled his whining like a pro and was so kind. Also the bacon on my burger was amazing. Next time we go, I am ordering extra!
Good breakfast spot, food portions worth it
