Definitely the feel of an old 50s diner with typical hearty breakfast menu selection. There was something for everyone (we were a party of 9). Serving sizes were huge - mine wasn't as I made a few modifications. Omelet made with egg whites, no beans or home fries (I wasn't expecting to eat them, so why waste food?), and sourdough toast, unbuttered.
Vegetarian options: There did appear to be options for vegetarian - not necessarily for vegans, though
Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating for the changes I wanted
Parking: Parking at City Hall definitely the easiest place to park.

We had a bunch here after a civil service at city hall and it was lovely! The staff were super kind and attentive! They made sure all my guests were taken care of and were on top of it! The food was also delicious! Everyone got what they were looking for and it really did hit the spot, and kept us full for the day! Great spot for a big get together, or just a quick bite to eat!

One of the Best Breakfast spots in Ottawa with 24 hour breakfast available. Must try their Quesadilla... Good food with generous quantities...

Mimosa is all orange juice. Menu says its 2 ounces, which makes no sense for a Mimosa as it should be 5oz or more and a splash of Oj. Told the server it was mostly juice and was told cannot change it. Asked to add a shot of vodka, and that was $8. Also says 7.99 for the mimosa but bill said 8.99. BLT was basically just deep fried bacon and bread. Sad tomato's and barely any Lettuce. Was also $15.99...upgraded to poutine that had sooo much salt in the gravy, not edible. Worst food and drinks ever!! The service was so good, and they deserve to serve better food and drinks.

There's a little note at the top of their menu: "If there's a problem, tell us, not your followers. Let us make it right while you're still here."
Problem 1: The horrible hostess who seated us. How about "Good afternoon"? How about a smile? If you hate your job, quit!
Problem 2: There's more chicken in a can of the original Campbell's Soup. This soup is embarrassing. EIGHT dollars for this!
Problem 3: I alerted the server that the soup was subpar. He said "Sorry" and I fully expected him to take it off our bill. The bill came, and the server said, "I removed your Diet Coke since you didn't like the soup". Oh, you mean the FOUNTAIN drink that costs you about 10 cents a glass?
We tried this location because of the rude server at the Byward Market location, but Zak's has seen the last of us.

Really awful. Too pricy but was not worth it at all. The eggs were cold.
It doesn't have the diner feel like the one in Kanata. It is very dark and broody at this location. Coleslaw isn't fresh homemade anymore. It is the green stuff you get out of a bucket. Pickles had seen better days. It was like the middle had been scraped out of them. Curly fries were delish. Bacon cheeseburger and chicken ceasar wraps were good. We went to this location because we were close by. I would go back to Kanata next time I wanted a Zak's fix.

The diner feels very basic, with simple chairs, tables, and utensils that seem more fitting for a casual spot. However, the menu prices are surprisingly high, more in line with an upscale chain restaurant, which doesn’t quite match the overall ambiance.
20$ for chicken wings,15$ Poutin for this service!

Servers are always friendly :) but the wait to be seated and served is incredibly long. We were waiting 30+ minutes after ordering with no communication from our waiter.

It's not the best Zaks location. Service was awful, and the waiter wasn't helpful in the slightest. Food took 50 minutes to come out for a two adult meals and one kid meal. Food was good but the service killed it for me.
