Good coffee and pastries. Friendly staff, in a cool art space. Worth a visit.

The food is good, but the service left a lot to be desired. When I greeted the owner, he didn’t respond, even though I saw him warmly greeting other customers. I’m a person of color, and unfortunately, I wasn’t the only one who felt this way — a few of my friends had similar experiences during their visits. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere that really stood out to us. I hope this can be addressed moving forward.

After one visit, this has become my new favorite place to stop for a coffee.
One of the best espressos I've had made by incredibly friendly staff.
In the same space, they have pottery, plants, and other artisan products. Many from the artists from the coop next door. Brought home a nice-looking bergonia after my coffee.

The best coffee around the area
UPDATE:
The menu has changed as has the selection they once had. As a result I have moved on from this restaurant and we now frequent either Mudtown (brewery with very good food), Elsie's Diner (good wraps, breakfast items, soups) or Dragon Cafe (great breakfast, soups and sandwiches). Each one is quite different, each very good.
PREVIOUS REVIEW:
One of the only places I'll stop for lunch these days, esp since we sadly saw the Bleeding Carrot vegan restaurant close its doors permanently. The Palette Cafe has taken over where Bleeding Carrot left off - excellent coffee, food and to top it all off staff are efficient, helpful and friendly. It is also licensed - not a huge variety to select from but they do serve beer and wine. They have a variety of alternative milks, breads/wraps, and a tasty selection of options on the menu board. I have tried approximately half the items listed and have yet to be disappointed. My husband and nephew both agree the Palette Cafe has an excellent Mac'n Cheese! A must to consider if you want good, clean, healthy homemade food or a full-bodied dark roast latte coupled with a gluten free muffin or a blueberry scone.
They make a great hot chocolate.

We ordered vanilla latte and a chocolate cookie. Latte was really good. The cafe has decorated with antics pieces, you will get a feel of a museum. Staffs were good and friendly. Overall a good experience.
