I love the location, right downtown Perth on the River Tay. I loved my meal, the schnitzel with the mushroom gravy and my husband had the Black Forest schnitzel. He didn't love his as much as I loved mine, but we tasted each other's meal and I thought his was delicious, too. Natasha was a wonderful server. I definitely recommend dining here.

I have never had a bratwurst served to me covered with saurkraut and what must have been honey mustard with almost a salad dressing consistency. The sweetness was weird and off putting though I scraped off all I was able. The sausage itself and side salad were very good however, so maybe the kitchen made a mistake? I love German food but it was so weird, but the other dishes I saw being served looked good, so again, I hope this was an aberration. Regardless, ask for mustard on the side to be safe.

We were a small party of three and made reservations earlier that day. Thank goodness we did because the place was full. We had a lovely spot by an old stone wall looking out over the river. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming. The waiter was great- friendly, helpful, speedy without rushing and pleasantly funny. He added to our enjoyment of the evening. The food was delicious! Hearty German meals that left us full but wanting just one more bite!! A delightful find and one we will definitely revisit!

A Perth institution that I can't believe I've only just discovered. Great schnitzel and lots of gluten free options on the menu. Can particularly recommend the smoked salmon appetizer.

Authentic Bavarian food. Great Wienerschnitzel and sauerkraut. Reasonably priced so good value for the money. I ate gluten free and it was delicious.

The New Year's Eve menu was very limited and this is not authentic German food. The seasonal vegetables were boiled to the point limp, and mushy. The chicken was white and not browned, almost boiled looking. The red cabbage was only a couple tablespoons. The tiny salad was celery ,onion with a soft tomato wedge. My husband had the schnitzel which was dry. We wanted to give this place another try but this is our last visit. So disappointed.

Visited there 28th of november 2024, i have to say it was very disappointing.
Very poor salad, cheap store bought bread.
Dinner was a schnitzel and potatoes and thats it.
Probably the worst food i have had for the money paid.
Just not worth the money
I will not be going back.

A Perth tradition worth sharing!
Maximilian's is an experience that our family has enjoyed for generations. The Jägerschnitzel with butter potatoes is always the best, and never disappoints! Consistency and quality of food, warm atmosphere - Highly recommend

Had schnitzel.... it's not bad... prices are higher than I expected but I guess it is the way it is these days...was there for lunch so only ordered the smaller version... dinner size is huge

From the beginning, our server seemed inattentive and unaccommodating. When we politely asked for a few more minutes to decide on our order, the waitress refused to return, forcing us to approach her to place our order. This left us feeling quite uncomfortable. As for the meal, the schnitzel l tasted burnt, while the salmon had an unpleasant taste, suggesting it may not have been fresh. Additionally, the bread was served cold and stale, so much so that after just a few bites, we decided to stop eating it altogether.
Despite leaving 99% of the food on our plates, the waitress did not ask if there was any issue when she brought the bill, which made the lack of concern all the more disheartening.

Awesome goulash and weiner schnitzel. Looking for to our next visit. Cucumber salad would be a nice addition.
