The food was excellent and we were looking forward to this traditional German restaurant. It was a Friday evening and we arrived at 6:45 pm. Didn’t realize they take their last order they accept was at 7 pm. By 7:45 pm we were being asked to pay and felt very rushed to leave sadly. Too bad. Photos show the Mushroom Sauce Schnitzel with some Spatzel (and red cabbage on the side). Comes with bread and salad.

This is our go to dinner place in Perth when we don’t feel like cooking at the Cottage. It is also our last dinner of the summer on the Labour Day weekend after the cottage kitchen is packed away for the season. Jagger Schnitzel! We attempt to copy the butter potatoes at home they are so good!

This is one of those joints you don't see very many of these days. It's worked out, nice older style tables and it's in an old stone house. It feels comfortable, but not overly so like a sofa that you disappear into. It's just the way it's supposed to be. If this sounds like it's part of a dying breed, then you're right. They don't make them like this anymore. The layout, the atmosphere, but also, the food. It's German food and that is a dying breed for restaurants. I live in Toronto and could only name you a couple places where you can find schnitzel, let alone GOOD schnitzel. It's that rare. Was in Perth visiting my mom and a friend of hers, and dropped in to Maximilians. I thought it'd be this bistro style thing from the name, but was happy it turned out to be a German spot. I love a good schnitzel. The service is great. Friendly and engaging, the staff were on top of things. The food is good. The bread was plain and could have used some toasting but the butter was nice as was the salad which is a sweet and sour mix of fruit and veggies. The schnitzel was good but a tad overdone. I liked it, but it was a wee bit dry. The spaetzle was nice but I find that restaurant spartzle is very small and low on the flavor which I found here, but I liked it. Overall I'd say the food is good, not great. Prices are betting reasonable here. I'd go again if I was in town and looking for a good dinner

We have been taking our time checking out the restaurants in Perth over the year. We left Maximillian's until close to the end, as it was getting mixed reviews and a lot of negative verbal reviews from locals. We were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant had a nice vibe and although still that pub feel, the seats were padded and comfortable. We ordered sausage bites as our appetizer, they were cooked perfectly and were delicious! My husband had a Last Duel beer and I had a glass of red wine. I didn't like their wine selections but found one on the menu I knew I could tolerate. My husband ordered Wiener schnitzel with fries, I ordered the Hungarian Goulash with potato and carrots. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal, but didn't have room to eat his vegetables ( which were cut differently than mine). My carrots were overcooked. The Goulash was made the traditional way and contained caraway seeds, but to me they made the Goulash have an off-taste. I'd leave them out. Still, all round a nice meal. Only 2 waitresses served that night - one was dedicated to a party of 21 in the back room, the other was serving about 40 people in the front. In the front where we sat, the waitress did an amazing job. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.

3.5/5We stopped in for lunch today around 2pm and it was pretty quiet. Ordered two full schnitzels which were quite large - both were OK, the mushroom cream sauce one needed a little salt or something though. Ham and pineapple one was tasty. We asked if they could do half and half sides, instead of only one, but the server said no, which was disappointing (schnitzel should come with both sauerkraut and potatoes in my opinion). However, it was nice that it came with a simple appetizer salad and the schnitzel itself was tender.Overall it was an ok experience although service felt really slow despite only there being only us and one other table to serve. They didn't really check in on us after serving the food which we would have appreciated. Total was $90 for two schnitzels, plus a Caesar and soda.

The food was great for the most part. The schnitzel is awesome and the appetizer they serve as well as the bread and soup. Large portions. The sides are not good. The pecan salad would have been amazing if I didn't have to spend a half hour cutting it up to bite size. The dumpling side and pasta side where awful so was the cabbage salad and the salmon should have stayed in the stream. The desserts aren't worth ordering unfortunately. We had a turtle flan and cheesecake sounded good. But wasn't. will go back and order discerningly;)

It has taken me almost three weeks to absorb and come up with the adequate/ perfect words to describe our experience. There are no words . I need to preface this review by saying - I was raised in a restaurant and I am incredibly picky on every detail. My daughter had her wedding dinner at Maximilian’s Aug 5 2023. Right from the get go there was absolute excellence. The planning , communication, their willingness to please was unbelievable. The decor and the table settings were absolutely beautiful ! The hors d’ oeuvres custom made with Sherri ‘s creativity and excellence were raved over. The presentation of the choices of entrées offered ( oh my Lord and there were also numerous choices allowed to be had ) were beautiful! The flavours of all dishes were incredible ! The owners , and the staff worked their buns off for all of us and absolutely everything was attention to detail. From the first meeting to the last crumb of the dessert - an absolute top notch experience. Comparing celebration venue / communication/ choices/ ease to work with/ service / pricing - You cannot compare to others. We can’t thank this restaurant enough for making the wedding celebration above and beyond a fantastic experience and memory. To Joan, Kevin , Sherri and staff- thank you and Prost ?

My niece was recently married in Perth and the wedding dinner was held at Maximilian Restaurant. I have always been impressed by the quality of the food and the wonderful service but Joan and her staff truly outdid themselves on this special occasion. They had closed the dining room to the public as we were a large group. From the moment we entered we were made to feel welcome. We were greeted by friendly staff and a beautifully decorated venue. The appetizers were unique, beautifully presented and mouthwatering. We had been offered options for the main course and everyone enjoyed their delicious meal. ( many of us had to take home what we could not eat - the portions are very generous) Dessert did not disappoint either. The staff were very busy ensuring that no one was kept waiting and they were able to deliver meals quickly, efficiently - and always with a smile. The bartenders were kept busy as well and the drinks were great. Joan circulated around the room several times to speak with guests and ensure that everyone was happy with their meal choice, the drinks and the service - and we were ! Thanks very much Joan and all staff - servers, chefs, kitchen staff and bartenders - as well all the people behind the scenes who helped make this occasion even more memorable for this very special couple. Everything was wonderful!

Dined out for I had a craving for fish tonight. Ordered the sautéed salmon in a white wine sauce with dill. It came with buttered potatoes and julienned vegetable. Side salad came with it. Meal arrived hot and it was fantastic, big portion so half of it came home.Parking: Street parking availabilityDietary restrictions: Some dishes on the menu are gluten free

What can you say, the go-to place in perth. Starter salad, nice, simple peppers, celery, onion and tomatoe. The schnitzel was excellent. Crispy, tender, tasty and not oily. The mushroom gravy was good and full of mushrooms but missing something like beef broth. Red cabbage, good, but needed bacon to finish it off. Spatzel, excellent. Desert- a lovely blueberry peach crumble with a surprising crunchy bottom and ice cream. A bottle of great Baden gewertz. Excellent, attentive server. All for under $110, a bargain. A 4.5 but can't post that.Next time will will ask. Tnx!!!

Recently visited for my birthday for the first time in 15 years and the quality has not dipped! I used to come every year with my parents as a kid and now I can look forward to continuing the tradition with my own loved ones. As always, go for the schnitzel!
