I’m extremely disappointed in The Locks Perth. My family and I had poor experiences here not just once, but twice – for both breakfast and dinner. I reached out to management via email over two weeks ago to share our concerns and have yet to receive any response. That lack of acknowledgment speaks volumes about the service here – it’s genuinely disappointing. From the rude and unhelpful wait staff to the general disorganization, it was clear that service is not a priority. The food was mediocre at best and even came with ingredients we had specifically asked to be removed – a basic request that was completely ignored. It’s such a shame because the hotel itself is beautiful and spotless. I’d honestly be embarrassed to be attached to a restaurant that operates this poorly. Definitely wouldn’t recommend dining here.

Had a burger just now which I have to say was cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and may have been the best burger I’ve had in two years.
Joanne as always knew just how to handle my neediness, with her own unique twist of sass and class that I have always expected from her.

Never honestly liked going to the locks until recently . However the new head cook seems to actually know what he is doing . Tried his new burger tonight and OMG talk juicy to Me. Not only juicy but so flavorful. Best caramelized onions I've had other then jackastors in Ottawa. Even the fries were amazing . Lauren was absolute phenomenal as well definitely made me want to come back

Let me open by stating this was the worst restaurant experience in my adult life.
My party of 12 arrive promptly for 7pm dinner. We were seated and the worst experience commenced.
1. The server was as absent from the start.
2. We waited for 10 minutes for here to arrive at table to take drink order.
3. We placed order for cocktails and received after another extended time. Drinks came over several trips.
4. She did not come back to table and we needed to track her down to order appetizers .Order placed and waited for over 20 plus minutes. Had to track her down to complain for long time frame. The items began to arrive ONE at a time , not together. Two items were wrong , but because of time delay and being hungry we did not ask for replacement. The last appetizer arrived when all others had been eaten. We are now dealing with numerous problems from many areas.
5. We placed orders for mains and this became the final major mishap. It was 25 minutes before food commenced to arrive at table. AGAIN , arrived separately . The last person to receive his meal was 10 minutes AFTER all others completed meals. .The food on the plates was presented poorly and general feedback was food was of poor quality. Food on all plates was not HOT, due to POOR kitchen management and ineffective server.
6. At this point i was beyond upset with the mess we just were subjected to endure.
I expressed my upset to wait staff in a very aggressive manner saying both the wait staff and kitchen management were terrible. . After my rant i was asked to speak with a manager on phone , which i refused. I reluctantly took the bill ($430.00). I paid this amount for spending over 2 plus hours experiencing the restaurant from hell. TIME I WILL NEVER GET BACK !!
The reason not to tip is obvious.
In summary, this place is a mess and based on our experience should BE out of the foodservice field. I can not find one kind thing to say about our experience. FUTURE PATRONS be WARNED of a potential nightmare

We recently had our wedding at The Locks, and it was truly an incredible experience. From the start, Marianna (our event coordinator) and her team were organized, responsive, and so attentive to every detail. The day flowed perfectly thanks to their careful planning and clear communication.
The food was absolutely phenomenal—so many of our guests said it was the best wedding meal they’ve ever had!

Had a lovely supper there on the terrace. Service was good and friendly. Had a mocktail which was delicious and hubby enjoyed his local IPA. Shared crab cakes as appetizer, which were 8/10. A little bit soggy inside. The blackened chicken on penne was delicious, as was the salmon florentine. A little too much rice, so the veggies could have been seen might have been better. Sticky toffee pudding was average. Overall a pleasant experience. Location next to park is lovely.
Service is slow, food is hit and miss. If you are in a large group, someone gets their food and a good half h later the next person.

Excellent service, so fast, friendly and efficient and the food was amazing! The Chef, well I must say that is the Best Fish and Chips I have ever had! Upon learning it was my Birthday the Chef brought out a to die for Raspberry Cheese Cake, complete with candle!
Overall definately 5+ Star in our opinion!

The Locks offered just what we needed after a hot day on the Links. A fantastic lunch dining experience with great ambience, warm service, and delicious food made with local ingredients. The fish was crisp and fresh and the heritage salad was mouth watering. A true gem in Perth - we’ll definitely be back!

Had our wedding here in June 2025 and everything went perfectly. Marianna the coordinator is very organized and took care of everything on the day of. Very fair pricing for what you get and the venue is beautiful with access to the best spots for pictures in Stewart park nearby, mere steps away.
