Family-Friendly Dining at Dragon Rolls.

Dragon Rolls Japanese+ Thai is a go-to spot for families, largely thanks to its all-you-can-eat menu available on an iPad. Kids love the interactive ordering experience and the variety of options, from sushi to stir-fries. The desserts are a particular hit, especially with the little ones.
While the sushi may be considered average compared to other places in Ajax and Pickering, the tempura and stir-fries are excellent. The service is prompt, especially during less busy times.
Although the restaurant has had its share of ups and downs over the years, recent visits have been consistently positive. It’s a reliable choice that keeps the whole family happy, ensuring we'll be back for more.

Awful service, waitress rolling her eyes at my mother for asking for a glass of water. Not worth visiting for at best mediocre food. Don't waste your time or money coming here. There's plenty of excellent restaurants in Pickering that won't treat you poorly. Not for the prices they charge.

This seems like a tradition for our family as we all love sushi and handrolls. This is our go-to place for sushi cravings. My kids love this place and we always had a good experience here for dining. I even like their salmon fish which is served with been sprouts and rice. Kids wait for the bill patiently as they get their candies and lollies with the bill, lol!!!

We recently tried Dragon Roll Japanese & Thai and would give it a solid 4 stars. While the service was a bit slow and a couple of items we ordered didn’t make it to the table, the food we did receive was delicious and beautifully presented. The flavours were fresh and satisfying, especially the sushi and curries. With a bit more attention to service, this spot could easily be a standout. We’d still go back for the tasty dishes!

Extremely Disappointed — Not Coming Back

I was really excited to try this place because I love seafood, especially sashimi, and I’ve been to many Japanese restaurants across the GTA and Durham. Sadly, Dragon Rolls was a huge letdown.

First, we ordered beef skewers, but the waitress forgot to include it — no apology, just a simple “oops,” so we had to cancel it altogether. Then when our food finally arrived, it went downhill fast.

The sashimi platter wasn’t fresh at all — no shine, dull color, and a rough texture like it just came out of the freezer. The grilled calamari was NOT grilled — it was clearly boiled and tossed in teriyaki sauce. That’s not what I ordered. The butter shrimp had no butter flavor whatsoever — it was misleadingly described but turned out to be shrimp coated in batter, not butter. And the grilled mussels? Definitely not grilled. They slapped cheese on top and blowtorched it. Worst part? The mussels had an odd aftertaste like they were starting to spoil.

To make it worse, the waitress kept watching us eat the entire time. It was super uncomfortable. We spent $102.15 and walked out still hungry and upset.

This was such a disappointing dining experience. Food was subpar, misleading, and borderline inedible. Definitely not coming back. Check the photos if you need proof.

Never going to come back here again the lady at the front desk tall and big face on Tuesday night is so rude she doesn't know how to talk to the customers and don't have any ethics to talk to customer she should be working back of the house not in front counter worst experience with me and my family don't waste your money and time here there are much better options around in Ajax they respect you and serve you good food not like this restaurant they should improve customer services or they will be reaching soon to 3.5 and lower on Google as they are constantly.

We (a family of 4) had a terrible dinner experience at this restaurant yesterday (14-July-2025). Our dinner arrangements were *All You Can Eat*. Sadly, we found a fly in one of our platters. There was no manager or supervisor to talk to. So, we left the restaurant halfway through our dinner. The restaurant billed us for 2 customers, instead of 4.
We have been to this restaurant several times before, but now, it's absolutely going downhill. There's a serious lack of hygiene in the restaurant. We'll now stay away from this restaurant.

I am saddened to write this. When I drive down to the area from ottawa this was one of my favorite places to go. I was there Monday July 7th with my family and friends. They were severely understaffed but still chose to pack the restuarant. Food piling up at the counter being delivered to the tables cold and disgusting. Dishes not being picked up from table and having to be placed on the floors. When I said I refused to pay my meal (which I could not eat because it was cold) they had the audacity to say they couldn't do anything about it. They had no means of talking to a manager and said they would get them to contact me (which they didnt) i had to wait 30+ minutes just to get my bill. I am sorry when you prioritize greed over the customer experience then you lose customers forever. Even worse was they forced a 15% tip on top of the bill which after what I received in terms of service seems like theft. Also the waitress we had decided it would be a great idea to throw the plates on the table instead of placing them down.

Thanks for an unforgettable and terrible experience. DO BETTER

Service is horrible should say all you can wait instead of all you can eat... went with a group of 6
Didn't get half the orders waited for ever for what even came out. Servers were great just not enough of them to handle the customers and only 1 robot. Didn't get water or drinks. Wouldn't come back and everyone else don't waste your time or money here go anywhere else
