Angry Birds Rotisserie Chicken

Guy putting portable sign in front of restaurant showing deals for the week and in small letters on the bottom showing that they are not open on Tuesday. The fact that he was putting the sign out said to me that they were just opening so we stopped since it was close to opening time on a normal day. If I was a tourist coming into town and seen that I would also think I'm sure the same way that okay they're definitely open today because they're putting the sign out. If this isn't a sign of stupidity I really do not know what is . They wasted my time for which I will take account of in the future.

Great restaurant and very family friendly. Shannon was an awesome waitress and made the experience even better. Highly recommended!

Very tasty chicken big portions

Three of us visited Angry Birds in Picton on a recent Sunday afternoon.

Admittedly, we were drawn in by the name.

We sat on the patio and the weather was great. I don’t love patios that are right beside a parking lot, but space is space, and that is more of a personal preference than anything that affected our experience. Across the road there is a playground that was busy, and honestly, hearing kids playing and having what sounded like the time of their lives added something nice to the meal. Maybe that is a little deep for a chicken restaurant review, but you make your own experience.

I did not get a great look around the restaurant because we were seated on the patio quickly, but the patio itself was laid out nicely. Tables had generous space for conversation and it was easy to move around comfortably.

Our server was great. She was friendly and welcoming, funny without overdoing it, knew the menu, kept our drinks topped up, and made good recommendations.

We started with the nachos. The flavour was good, and there was a decent amount of chicken and cheese on the top layer. My only complaint is that the toppings need to be layered through the nachos. To be fair, this is not only an Angry Birds thing — lots of places make that mistake. Did we finish them? Of course.

We also got an order of the tempura green beans. I am sure I have had them somewhere before, but I cannot remember where. These jumped right near the top of my list of deep-fried battered vegetables. Start your meal at Angry Birds with an order of these and you will not be disappointed.

One friend got the regular chicken poutine. It looked awesome, and it was awesome. Based on both friends trying it first. I have mentioned before that I rarely order poutine, but I will always try it. The gravy was good, and there was a decent amount of chicken and cheese curds. My friend made fast work of it, which is always a good sign.

My other friend went with the daily special: a Chicken Cordon Bleu crispy chicken sandwich with fries and gravy. I had a bite and it was good. Maybe a little too crispy — yes, I know it is called a crispy chicken sandwich, but IYKYK. There was plenty of ham and cheese, and it was a solid sandwich.

I have a few rules in life. One is that when I go to a rotisserie chicken restaurant, I get the rotisserie chicken. I went with the half chicken and fries. There may have been other side options, but I like fries and was not feeling another kind of potato that day.

The chicken was cooked properly and was not dry, but I was left wondering what made it stand out as the restaurant’s signature chicken. I was also expecting a dipping sauce or BBQ sauce option, although I may have missed it on the menu. The coleslaw, however, was on point.

I did not see soup on the menu or I would have ordered a bowl, but if they have it, I will try it next time.

Overall, a solid 4-star visit. Friendly service, fair prices, and a few really good items — especially the tempura green beans and chicken poutine. The rotisserie chicken was cooked well, and the nachos could use better layering. I would go back and try more of the menu.

Stopped in on a whim with hopes that they make some great rotisserie chicken. Nope. Honestly the least enjoyable rotisserie chicken. No frills does a better job, sadly. No seasoning, a slightly off taste, and texture makes me think it was rotisseried some time ago.
