My large extended family group dined at the Canalside on a recent Monday night. The online reservation intended to give the restaurant a heads-up of our impending arrival did not reach them, so they were caught completely off guard.

Instead of telling us to go pound sand, Tammy and Amanda sprang into action, rearranging tables to seat us all together, and the kitchen was able to turn out a large multi-course meal.

Without their flexibility and eagerness to go the extra mile, we would have been in a real bind, since there are few other Monday dining options in Port.

Much appreciated, and we will continue patronizing the Canalside for many years to come!

The food at the restaurant was great. Great place too right by the water. Owner was fantastic! Highly recommend

Another fantastic meal at Canalside! We had the lobster Gruyere mushroom melt for an app which was absolutely amazing. For entrees we went with the flat iron steak and lobster Jambalaya. Both were fantastic and the steak was cooked perfectly!

Great location right downtown on the canal. Watched the ships pass from our room. Appointed with everything you need and with a homey feel. Very helpful innkeeper and staff.

Dinner was lovely, but the music from entertainer on Mother’s Day was waaayyy too loud. His voice was quite nice, but was overpowered by his background music, which prevented us from being able to hear each other’s conversation. The entertainment spoiled our evening out rather than enhanced it. We felt bad for the servers, who also couldn’t hear their customers.

I've been coming to this restaurant every year for over 6 years on mothers Day with my mom, and since past grandmother's. It's my mom's favorite place, so we like to try come out at least 6 times a summer as well.
Today the food was small... service was okay. Two years ago we all got a flower, last year we didn't and today EVERYONE AROUND US got a flower when they paid before leaving but today my mother and I didn't. Just the other couples and older women did. That was disheartening. Because we can see them over on the far wall by the pay station... I paid $70 for two meals, which included a half spoiled salad and 2 tiny wraps. I can promise you I personally won't be back. We live out of town and can spend our money somewhere more consistent. Somewhere, we feel appropriate for our business on such an important day!

Food was not great the fish seemed overcooked I would not recommend eating here.

Food takes forever and has been cold the two times I've been. Fries were burt, and when I quietly mentioned it to the owner he ignored me. I will NEVER go to this crap hole again 😒

Came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. I had the fish and chips and it was excellent. Some of the most crispy I’ve ever had. The fries were fresh cut and not frozen. My husband had the mushroom burger and said it was very good. Our friend who joined us quite enjoyed her beef dip. It’s a great location to watch the ships and enjoy a good meal!

My family loves the restaurant. Food was amazing and eating outside on the walk at night was great. My family thoight the restaurant service was good.

I also rented 5 rooms here, 1 3 4 7 and 10 for my brother's wedding due to proximity to Port Colborne venue and charm. They are old apartments over businesses overlooking the canal. It was beautiful to watch the boats pass by. Everything you need within walking distance.

Unfortunatly while nicely decorated and spacious the rooms were lacking in cleanliness. I had to wipe the wall in between sink and mirror in room 7 because it was visually gross. I gave everything a wipe and disnt complain. I alao rented room 10 down the street due due to ground level access as all other rooms have very steep stairs and my mother has bad knees. This room looks cute at first but was dirty and needs renovations. The floor was grittty. When I brought it to attention of the owner he was dissmissive and advised me he personally had swept the room. I asked for a new room which he declined so i requested the room be cleaned again. My mother was already turned off and left a day early leaving the room vacant for the last night which was understandable but unfortunate. I inspected the room closely after the second cleaning and it was still not acceptable. Mainly the shower that I would not wash my dog in. Photo attatched. Also notable the months worth of cobs webs on the patio of room 10 rendered it unusable.
Despite the convenience, view and charm and potential this place has I would not stay here again.

The restaurant was nothing special. Poor service as the big guy (owner maybe) serving was too busy trying to rent out a loft to someone. Ketchup bottle was empty, and the poor single server was too busy. Had to try to wave her down to get a refill a d ketchup. He even made a negative comment on having croutons in a wrap, which we could clearly hear. Felt sorry for the lady server, but she should go where she is appreciated, period. Would not go back for poor service and average food.
