Went here for the first time a few months ago and it was really good. They recently got a new cook though and changed some of the menu and the food was overpriced for what it was. Our service was also terrible, we waited 30 minutes for the bill and they overcharged us. We tried to get a refund but their system wasn’t working. Overspent on a mediocre meal with bad service, will not be returning.

We had a nice pasta dish of the day ravioli and dessert with coffee. The service and food was excellent! I highly recommend it.

We had a great time on Friday night. The food was good, the servers were very attentive, and the ambience was great. The only disappointing thing were the desserts. They seemed overly sweet - but I do realize that's a personal preference for the most part. Great place to have dinner!

Very cozy place to have dinner. Small but the food was amazing and the people were very friendly. Plan to go back and bring friends with us.

Eat here!!!!Me and my group ended up here by chance, and I’m so glad we did. I had the fish tacos with fries, my friends had the flat ironed steak with fries. Both dishes were delicious. The atmosphere was lovely. Prices are very fair, portions are good sizes. Our server was so attentive and pleasant.Highly recommend The Social for your next dinner outing.

Celebrated my friends birthday here tonight and everything was perfect. Food was cooked perfectly and was delicious with great portions, service was attentive and thoughtful. We had a great night, huge thank you to Alyssa, (sorry, spelling may be wrong), for making it such a special night. Looking forward to coming back!

This used to be my favourite place to eat in Cobourg/Port Hope. When they first opened the food was incredible, rave worthy. Now it is really subpar. The Mussels were bland and not fresh, the smell was a little nauseating, they were edible but not good. I ordered the salmon from the sister restaurant menu, it was so terrible, $30 entre that was overcooked and terribly bland, very pedestrian, salsa verde from a jar, fried cremini mushrooms and a flavourless polenta, not sure who thought this dish was a good idea. I had to send it back, when with my tried and true Chicken sandwich. Also tried the brisket, it was tough, flavour was ok. Again I had it in the past and it was wonderful, everything was, you could not go wrong with anything on their menu. Really not sure what has happened, this place used to be so tasty and the food was always fresh and delicious, I would order the trout when they had it and it was always delicate and perfectly cooked. Really don’t want to go back, which is a shame because it used to be so good.

Open table had glitched and they were overbooked. The way the staff bent over backwards to accommodate us was impressive and refreshing. Would go back in a heartbeat - but I would book directly and not through OpenTable .

This was a little taste of heaven. We have been before, and definitely will return. The food was top notch. One of the best fish and chips I have ever had. I love their local products vibe, and the overall look and feel. A must try if you are looking for great food in Port hope.

The restaurant had just opened and noon. They seemed very disorganized. Perhaps the staff needs to start their shift before the doors open. Server was friendly. Food was unremarkable. Coffee machine didn't work. Atmosphere was cozy. It's quite a small restaurant. Would be nice for a private party. Feels like a cafe rather than a restaurant. Just because it's so small.

We visited this restaurant before the Donovan Woods show at the Capital Arts Theatre this past Sunday, Nov. 5th. It's located just off main street right across from the LCBO - only a 5min walk to the theatre which is great. The second we walked in we were warmly greeted by staff and seated at one of the high tops by the window. The space is super cozy - only 7-8 tables and seating at the bar - and the vibe is awesome. The place quickly filled up and was buzzing! The food and service were excellent. I had the fried chicken sandwich and my wife had the pulled pork sandwich special and we were raving it about it until we go home later that night. We both agreed if we lived in Port Hope this would be our go to fav spot. The wine list features an excellent mix of local and international which I appreciated. I love their focus on local and sustainable menu items. We drive to TO often and are always looking for a place to eat to split up the drive home and this place will now be our go to stop. This place makes us want to visit Port Hope more and explore what else the town has to offer. Bravo Social team - keep up the amazing work!

Went for dinner at The Social, and it took them a little while to come over to us and ask our order. Even though the place wasn’t that busy. Once we ordered, the gnocchi special was delicious, but the brisket dinner was quite bland and it was unfortunate I had to ask for salt just to give it some flavour. Was tender, just needed more flavour.

First time having lunch at The Social. Myself and a dear friend were very pleased with our visit. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Service was excellent. Thank you to Charlotte. Would definitely return.

Unfortunately, The Social was disappointing this visit. Food was not as good as it was. Hamburger was way overcooked! The cleanliness of the restaurant in general and the washroom specifically were not acceptable. Not as wonderful as a first visit years ago.
