“If you’re from Port Hope or passing by this summer, this is an absolute must. Since covid Port Hope hasn’t been quite the community it used to be and through owner efforts is pulling us back together. They’re open late and have various pop-up events which is not normal for our small town and definitely appreciated. The owner came and sat down with us and had an amazing conversation about the business and their goals, he makes an effort to know his customers. If you bring your large cup back you get $2 off. This place can’t be beat and don’t miss out while it’s here!!”

“Stopped in on the way home from the Toronto area, and was the choice of chance as both my partner and I were hungry from the crazy GTA after holiday drive, and we still had a few more hours to go. I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised with our random choice and will keep in mind next time down out that way!Good quality food, some options for rolls that I haven't had before ( I enjoyed some of the names of the rolls, we had a good chuckle) and the rolls were really yummy and decently priced!Small complaint, some of the rolls were REALLY big, would make it difficult for most to eat it properly/eloquently”

“We were headed up the 401 and needed a pitstop, a quick Google Search didn't identify any of your usual Chain Restaurants but then Schnitzel Shack appeared with 5 Star ratings. This amazing place with two lovely young ladies did not disappoint. Their cheerful and helpful demeanor confirmed we chose the right place. With their warning about the serving size disregarded? we ordered a Schnitzel Parm sandwich, a Schnitzel sandwich with frite sauce and a generous order of homemade fries.One word AMAZING! A massive tender and lightly crispy pork schnitzel had to be folded three times to fit on their fresh-baked bun. The taste is to die for! Their fresh-cut fries were a major treat. What is even more surprising was the value! So the next time you find yourself within 100 KMs of Port Hope, head to the Schnitzel Shack - they won't disappoint.”

“Stopped for a latte, added a salad with smoked trout and didn’t realize it would be incredible! Made with such care and attention to detail/quality. It included onion blossoms, strawberries and scape on fresh greens.And the trout was perfect! Great spot and such wonderful creativity with fresh ingredients…kudos!!!”

“I have been here twice each time I have visited Port Hope and the 45-minute drive is 100% worth it.I've had the cod and the halibut I believe and both were fantastic. Whatever batter they use is crispy and light and not too oily.I also ordered the shrimp and scallops and absolutely 100% amazing, loved the cocktail sauce. It just cheers up your day.The lovely lady who has served me both times is extremely polite and very accommodating to my requests of additional tartar sauce and vinegar (she even gave me a plate to eat in my car because I was not able to dine in because of time constraints)For the price of the portion sizes are generous.”

“My husband and I chose to have our Wedding Rehearsal Dinner at The Beamish House in August 2023. We always enjoy having dinner here and wanted to share it with our family and friends. It was a big group and the atmosphere and service was excellent. Sydney was our server and she took very good care of us and was very attentive. The food was also amazing, it came out hot and all at once, which was very impressive for a large group. We all had a wonderful time and couldn't recommend The Beamish House more! Thank you all!!”

“The dining room is very loud, and that made it difficult to enjoy the company. If you're hard of hearing, or have sensory issues, this place may overwhelm you. Getting through the front door is not easy with a stroller, although there's a good change table in the bathroom.Parking: It's in a tight spot, you have to park on the street and walk over.”
