10 Best Cafes near Port Hope

“My first visit to cat heaven! I've been meaning to visit this place for a long time but having a job where you don't know what you'll be doing day-to-day makes it tricky to pre-book an appointment. And that is the way to go! So easy to do and when I got there, I was the only person in the cat rooms. I've read reviews where people say they felt like they were followed around etc. but as the only person there, the staff had the perfect opportunity to focus all their attention on me and scrutinize my every move but I didn't get that impression at all. They were friendly and chatty but left me to interact on my own.

I fell in love with Leo (check out their Facebook page for July 22, 2026 and you will see his adorable face) and we hung out for quite a while. I'm not in a position to adopt so I'm going to be his advocate! He has a single because he knows he is the best and does not wish to interact with his underlings. He loves people though! Within a few seconds of me talking softly to him, he was in my lap and if I dared to stop petting him, he put his paw on my arm to remind me that I should be focused on him. He needs a loving home full of pats and adoration and free of distractions (other cats). I will be back soon and will look in on the king and make sure he is being treated to the standard to which he is entitled.

“Cozy, comfortable cafe serving an assortment of homemade pies and tortes, croissant sandwiches, and savory quiches. We enjoyed a salmon quiche, medivnyk cake, and torte Napoleon. A good rest spot off the 401. Parking lot behind the cafe, and on the street.“

If you are in Cobourg and you want a great cafe experience...the Fabled Bean is the one place you just have to visit!“

“Coffee is SO GOOD! Especially the iced coffees. The one downside is the lids to the regular iced coffees/clear cups don’t fit at all. They don’t seal and coffee drips everywhere out the side, and once coffee gets up there the lid slides right off. So the lids are too big. It sucks because their iced coffees are so good, but it makes such a big mess and makes them hard to handle :( it would be helpful if they got better lids! Other than that, great cafe.“

“What an amazing find! The sweets here are beyond delectable, the biscoff cheesecake is to die for (pictured). Owner is very friendly and knowledgeable, the lunch menu is excellent here as well with an excellent variety. Also dog friendly, my pup enjoyed the salted caramel ice cream.
