Captain George's Fish & Chips in Port Hope is worth the 45-minute drive. The cod and halibut are fantastic, with a crispy, light batter. The shrimp and scallops are amazing. The portion sizes are generous, and the service is extremely friendly and wonderful. The new owners have made the restaurant very welcoming and polite. Customers have enjoyed the Hot Honey Chicken, noting it as the most tender chicken they have ever had. It's the best fish and chips place in town, a nice old school fish and chips place with flawless halibut and good prices. The haddock is very well done, and you could tell it’s not minced frozen fish. Everything was superb, from the lobster to the brisket. The staff was friendly and attentive, providing quick service. On Thursdays, they even offer 2 seniors haddock and chips meals for less than $18. The location is great with free parking, making it a popular stop. Overall, Captain George's provides a great experience with delicious food and excellent customer service.
