I'd have preferred to write you an email but since you don't offer that, fine, let's air your dirty laundry in public. I am from Picton and returned to visit my family back in August. My elderly father, who recently recovered from cancer and has chronic pain issues, made the mistake of parking in a no-parking zone. He was upset when they told him to move because he can't walk far. He didn't curse out the staff, he just stormed off a bit frustrated. I helped him to park elsewhere. Meanwhile, your staff clearly decided to punish us for one octogenarian curmudgeon acting like any cranky older fellow who gets weary of tourists and who drove all the way from Wellington in order to take his only son out for lunch. For the sin of being a bit grumpy, your staff made us wait and our waiter, the dude who looks like Fabio, was just plain rude. I held my tongue at my mother's request at the time, but I think people should know how you treat elderly, local patrons just because they get a bit difficult. I hasten to add that being difficult almost entirely affected me, not you, because I had to get the truck moved. My father wasn't mean to your staff. We also tipped as well as we ever do, which is 20%. So slow clap for you and your imported staff treating an elderly veteran like crap for no reason except you were angry about having to walk two steps out the door to tell him to move the truck. You must be so very proud of alienating local customers with your big-city snot-nosed rude and offensive staff. If you care to contact me with an obsequious apology, feel free, and I will give you my dad's phone number so you can act like professionals who value the community that supports you, not entitled, ageist jerks.

Requested chicken added to my Gorgonzola Garganelli. I was told that was only a vegetarian option and if I wanted meat, there was another pasta with sausage I could choose. That was not what I wanted so I went ahead with my order. The pasta sauce was bland and the noodles which I am sure were penne, were so overcooked I could not enjoy nor finish my meal.
I was also disappointed when I overheard a waiter serving other tables explaining the feature of the night being pork loin chops And it sounded divine. I would’ve ordered this. Had we been told it even existed.
At the end of my meal, I informed our waitress that I was not happy with the pasta and I would suggest that they offer chicken be allowed to be added to this meal. I said I see chicken can be added to any salad dish and she said well I could’ve added it to your pasta, but there would’ve been a surcharge to which I said that would’ve been fine. I asked for it and was told it was only a vegetarian option. I continued to let the waitress know I would have ordered the feature. Had she told us there was one. Her reply was she only found out what the feature was after. We had ordered our meal. She then said if we ever came back, she would be able to add chicken to that meal if I ordered it. Too little too late very disappointed in the food and the service.

Manager with attitude.
1.5% surcharge for credit card.
Food is below average
Ordered Trout with veggie and potato they slob pork chunks all over, not mentioned on the menu, why? simply because they were too lazy to make Brussels sprouts for the dish so they used Brussels sprouts from another dish.
Skip and have a glass of wine or coffee across the street at the Miller ( same owner lol )

We have been dining at the inn at lake on the mountain for several years. We’ve been for both lunch and dinner and the atmosphere is always really nice and the food is always delicious and the servers are good as well. That being said, our most recent experience left us upset and probably not wanting to go back for a while, or perhaps ever. We went for dinner on Friday, September 5 at 5pm. My dad wanted to try something different, so he decided to order the fish. As he started eating he found not one, but two bones, of a good size. We called the manager over and she was very non-chalant about it. Her response was, “oh yeah, you will probably find a few of them”. I get that they order the fish from somewhere else, but seriously???? If you swallow fish bones, they can cause serious injuries or death. The whole thing just left a terrible feeling and we didn’t enjoy the rest of the dinner.

The food was excellent. The service was great. The atmosphere was decent, they had a LOT of flies which likely could have been managed better.
What will keep me from coming back is the 1.5% surcharge on credit cards. I get they don’t want to pay the fees but it’s the cost of doing business. It would not have upset me if they were upfront about it but they only told us after our meal.
If you are going to accept credit cards as payment either eat the fees or tell people up front that you have a surcharge.

we have been goinng to this restaurant for manny years. The menu doesn't change but that is the best thing of all because everything is excellent. To my mind that's what makes a great restaurant, great food that you can depend on every time you come. To my mind, the fact that every DISH IS unique and something to look forward to makes it the best experience I've had in a restaurant for a very long time.

It took 80 minutes for our mains to arrive (with simple appetizers in between) and the food was not hot. The sandwich bread was burnt black -- i.e. much heavier than normal char lines throughout, indicating possible haste.
We were forced to pay a 20% tip (18% post tax) by server Ryan because we were in a group of six. During the 80 minutes, several smaller groups came and went; their tip was optional and had to be earned.
Do not come in a group of six or more because you may be ignored.
Do not come if you are a foodie and like your food hot.

Stopped for lunch on a busy hot Saturday. The staff found us a table right away. Service was great as was the food. Nice breeze on the shady patio. I’ll be back !

We were a group of 7 and ordered a variety of menu entrees. While the majority enjoyed their meal, two had the Red Snapper which was very tough and frankly unedible. Unfortunately the restaurant chose to defend the chef’s preparation.
They did offer an alternative meal but of course the individual ends up eating their meal while everyone is finished. Collectively we agreed we would not return when in the area again.

We stopped in at The Inn at Mountain on the Lake and had a great experience. The place has a charming, vintage vibe that feels cozy and welcoming.
We ordered the rigatoni and the beer-braised beef, along with a Caesar salad. The food was tasty, fresh, and well-prepared, and it came with a nice touch of complimentary bread (four pieces). The rigatoni was flavourful and satisfying without being heavy, and the beer-braised beef was very tender, flavourful, and you could really taste a subtle hint of the beer in the sauce — a nice touch that made it stand out.
Service was good throughout — friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Prices felt fair for the quality and atmosphere.
Overall, I’d recommend this spot to anyone visiting Picton and looking for a solid meal in a classic setting. Worth a visit!
Make sure you bring bug spray if you are gonna eat outside.

We had a dog and the only place we could sit was at an old picnic table in the gravel at the far end of the outdoor patio area. Honestly most places allow dogs on the outdoor patio especially in the summer when you can’t leave them in the car. The other restaurant would not allow a dog anywhere. The bruschetta we had was cold garlic bread…cold tomatoe mix in a bowl with a clump of cream cheese on a plate. The Ruben sandwich was 95% meat and not much else…$14.00 a glass for local wine, and the minimum tip was 18%.
Our waiter was friendly and polite. Nice place to visit. Our first time there would not eat there again.

My spouse and I felt the need to get out of the house. We had a fabulous meal and shared a lovely bottle of spanish wine. Came back feeling much better. We had the brushetta, pate, mussels and strawberry salad. What a feast!
