Used to be my go to for empanadas but lately notice quality gone down but price went up. Not as flaky. Very small. Filling is tough to chew. Too bad.

I used to really love their empanadas, but this last visit was terrible. Picked up a dozen pork empanadas and the crust was flat/not flaky, filling was overcooked/burnt. Definitely not what it used to be.

Empanada and hopia, they taste good except they are pricey $ 2.80 each for empanada, and $1.83 for very small hopia. Shrinkflation is what I call, they increased the price and the size gets smaller . They also does not update their pricing. No discount if you buy dozens or per piece.

My first time here. I had the chicken empanada and it was fair. The pastry was flaky and soft, just the way I like it. The filling though could've contained more chicken as I hardly tasted any. There should be a fair amount of the veggies and chicken. Way too much veggies in comparison! Otherwise, it was okay.?

It’s my go to empanadas, baked light and crispy. The Chef and Staff are very sweet and accommodating, please call and order in advance as they are always sold out. They also sell kakanin or Filipino sweets

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Home of Empanada located at 3601 Lawrence Avenue East, Unit 7, Scarborough, ON M1G 1P5, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. This cozy little eatery specializes in Filipino delicacies and offers a wide variety of mouthwatering treats. One of the standout items on their menu is the Hopia, a popular Filipino pastry. Home of Empanada's Hopia is simply divine, with a perfectly flaky crust and a deliciously sweet filling. Whether you prefer the classic flavors or the more adventurous ones, they have a range of options to satisfy every palate. Another traditional Filipino delicacy that impressed me was the Puto Bumbong. These sticky purple rice cakes were steamed to perfection and served with grated coconut and butter. The combination of flavors was heavenly, and it truly transported me back to the streets of the Philippines. If you're a fan of rice-based desserts, you must try their Suman. This sticky rice treat is wrapped in banana leaves and has a subtly sweet taste that is sure to please. It pairs perfectly with a cup of hot chocolate or table hot chocolate. In addition to their delectable sweets, Home of Empanada also offers savoury dishes that are equally satisfying. Their Lihiya, a steamed rice cake infused with lye water, was soft and flavorful. It's a unique dish that you won't find in many places, and I highly recommend giving it a try. If you have a craving for classic Filipino desserts, Home of Empanada has you covered. Their Leche Flan, a caramel custard, is velvety smooth and rich in flavor. And for those who love pies, their Buko Pie and Egg Pie are absolute must-haves. The crusts were flaky, and the fillings were generous and delicious. Aside from the desserts, Home of Empanada also offers a variety of street food favorites. Their Fishball, Kikiam, and Squidball were all cooked to perfection, with crispy exteriors and tender interiors. They make for a delightful snack or appetizer. If you're in the mood for something more substantial, their Spaghetti is a real crowd-pleaser. The sauce is sweet and tangy, and the pasta is cooked just right. It's a comforting and satisfying dish that will leave you wanting more. To top it all off, Home of Empanada also serves a refreshing Fruit Salad. Packed with a variety of fresh fruits and a creamy dressing, it's a the perfect way to end your meal on a refreshing note. One unique item that caught my attention was the Hala Hopia. This twist on the classic Hopia features a combination of savory and sweet flavors, making it a delightful snack option. It's definitely worth trying if you're feeling adventurous.Overall, my experience at Home of Empanada was fantastic. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive. The prices were reasonable, and the portion sizes were generous. Whether you're a fan of Filipino cuisine or looking to try something new, I highly recommend paying a visit to Home of Empanada. You won't be disappointed!

Great place for empanada and hopia. Had the chicken and pork and I loved the savoury and sweet balance of the filling and pastry. The hopia were amazing as well - everything tasted homey.
