Tasty Jollof Restaurant and Lounge

Idk where to start. The first time I ordered from this place was Uber pickup, and someone else picked up the food. They did tell me that it was in a run-down place but never elaborated, and I didn't ask. The food was super hot and so delicious but I only got one small piece of chicken with my jollof rice order but it was tender and so good so I decided to order again -uber pickup and picked up by someone else for the second time. This time 3rd time, I decided to go order in-store as I was in the area. Found out it was 5$ difference from the app and in-store even if you are picking up vs going in to order. This place was so NASTY and FILTHY on the inside and out. The place had dimmed lights to probably hide all the grime on the floor, but I could still see it- the place was so dark it looked like they were closed and it was only 3pm. There were so many people coming in and out the kitchen in street clothes to say "hi" or just hang out. I ordered extra chicken this time with my jollof rice, and the meat was so dry, rubbery, and tasted different that I was sure it was turkey and a small piece of beef honestly. The meat this time was uneatable and inedible. My stomach did feel uneasy, but not enough for me to get sick. It made me think if it was old chicken that they had cooked a couple days before as they were closed the day prior to me going. I threw out all the "chicken" and just ate the rice with my eyes closed because the flavor is there, it so so good but I can NEVER go back and will never recommend this place until something changes. It's really a damn shame because these people can cook, and the flavor is spot on, but the filth is overwhelming. Lastly, when I paid, she took the liberty of not giving me my change and tipped herself, but I didn't say anything because it was just a couple dollars.

Their food is very tasty and homly. The reason i am giving a 3 star is because she uses too much salt and oil, especially for the stew. She just has to learn how to reduce her salt and oil.

Looking for meals that feels like home, this restaurant is the best, you get exactly what you paid for and more. Service is top notch, all meals are exceptionally great. My number 1 place in Toronto anytime.

The food is really good! I would 100% go there again. The reason it's 4 stars, however, is because the wait time is too long and the servings are a bit small. I ordered abula, and it was finger licking good, but I waited for a whole hour. The staff are really nice as well!

Very nice jollof, well served and hot. Unfortunately, the timing you'll receive as a wait time is far from the actual time you'll have to wait. However, the timing shouldn't be an issue because you wanna be served right and well regardless of time.

I never believed one can go bad with Egusi soup. Jeez! From the horrible tasting palm oil, to the fat ridden pieces of meats, everything was horrible. Don't get me atarted with the huge amount of salt and palm oil in the soup. Lord have mercy! My husband and I couldn't go past 3 balls of swallow and i felt terribly guilty for subjecting my taste buds as wells as my health to such great disservice.

Never again!

Unbelievably disappointed! I found plastic in the rice which I was serving to my children. $50 went to waste, everything went in the garbage. I tasted the rice and chicken/assorted meat, and I simply shook my head in disgust. There is no way that this food was freshly made the same day (and I did ask if the food was freshly made, as I went to the restaurant when they had just opened, and I was told that the food is always made fresh). I will never go back, and can never recommend. Please save your money and time as this is by no means good tasting Nigerian food... So sorry to the company to have to write this review.
