This is a great spot for malatang in Scarborough!
I love the DIY style where you can choose your own ingredients. There are so many options—vegetables, mushrooms, noodles, seafood, meat, and tofu products—and everything looked fresh and well organized.
I can’t handle spicy food very well, so I always order the tomato soup base, and it’s honestly so good! 🍅💕 It’s rich, flavorful, and comforting without being spicy at all. If you’re not a fan of spicy food, I highly recommend giving it a try.
Another thing I like is the sauce bar. My go-to combination is garlic, green onions, soy sauce, and vinegar. It’s fun to customize your sauce and find your favorite mix.
The reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the service was just okay, and the air conditioning didn’t seem to be working very well. It was pretty hot inside during my visit, which made the dining experience a little less comfortable.

The waiter is really mean and ruined the whole experience. He was really annoyed and rude with us for no reason.

Good food for a quick bite.
Compare to their North York location a big lacking in soup base flavour. However, larger selection of ingredients. All very fresh, including seafood.

This is one of many malatang places in the mall and has a good variety of vegetables, meat, fish balls, and starches. Many of them are soaking in water which adds to the weight.
When you've finished placing what you want into your bowl with tongs, you bring it up to pay and pick from a mala beef soup base, tomato soup base, or dry stir fry and they give you a number so you can sit down and your food is brought to you.
The sauce bar includes black vinegar, soy sauce, chili oil, sesame paste, minced garlic, and scallions.
While all the ingredients usually require different cooking times they somehow cooked everything really well without separating them.
I personally dislike the numbing and taste of Sichuan peppercorns so I asked for it to be less ma and it still had a bit but it wasn't as overwhelming as usual. I found the spiciest level to be spicy but not overly but others with me found the lower levels too spicy. When in doubt, get less spicy and add the chili oil from the sauce bar. There is also numbing oil if you don't know if you like it but want to try it on the side.
There is a minimum of 400g but they'll tell you if your bowl is less so you can add more. They also offer takeout bowls on top of the sauce bar.
They have a cash discount.
