The District Tapas+Bar

Portions are a joke. Food was good. She thought the mushrooms were good but wow, our server didn’t check on our food or bother to offer extra napkins. Ran outta water too. Not attentive whatsoever. He came by at the end. He didn’t deserve the tip but I did it anyway. Extremely blasé attitude on his part and the worst thing is, if I told him he’d be stunned. I don’t mean casual in a good way. He was such a meh server.

We have been to this restaurant quite a few times, always delicious. Today we had server Bo and he was excellent! He was very attentive and the food was amazing! We especially love the brussels sprouts and deep fried oreos! We will continue to visit regularly.

Decided to try something different today and I'm so glad we did. We parked at the Ontario Street parking garage and literally 1 min walk to the District.
We were happily greeted by our server Bo and quickly sat in a comfortable booth.
Water was brought over immediately where he introduced himself by name and explained the Wednesday Wine Feature ($1 per oz for house wine)
Menus were located on the table as well as drink menus.

The atmosphere was excellent. The artwork on the walls brings me back to my teenager days in the 90s all while 90s hip hop music plays in the background

Menu is Tapas style but they also have entrees etc

We had a delicious ricotta and feta dip with delicious crusty bread. It was to die for.

OMG so fresh. The breading on the chicken was delicious.
Highly recommend

My aunt had the seafood gnocchi and loved it.

Caleb one of the owners was cooking and it was excellent.

We viewed the Brunch menu for Sundays and we will be definitely giving it a try

I went for the patio and it was just amazing. The Bao Mac, pomegranate hummus and chimichurri steak fries were the best I have had. Just as amazing as odd.bird down the way and lots of seating and amazing drink options. The painting in the restaurant and so fun. It's a really amazing vibe.

The new menu is phenomenal and the service is fantastic. We were served by Matt at the bar and he made me a pear riesling sour from the new cocktail menu. 10/10 no notes. Highly recommend

Stopped here for a late lunch out of convenience, and wasn't sure what to expect. Looked a bit shabby. Wow. Had the cauliflower bites, and the brussel sprouts. The best food I had in St. Catherines. Perfectly cooked. Amazing flavour. Music was not to my 70 year-old mother's taste, but she loved the food. Service was excellent.

Had some drinks here ! The lychee mocktail was a hit. Vibe is great and service was fast.

The service and the atmosphere were great, the food is just super average tasting. For the price, it's just not worth it. Nothing I've eaten on this menu stands out as worth visiting again for.

We visited with a large group tonight. Amazing service. Incredible food. Tapas were all so delicious. We made a reservation ahead of time and everything was perfect!!! Thank you so much!!!

The food is fresh and well cooked, the lower score is solely based on the flavour profiles for those of us who ordered and the weird way tapas is done, again for us. The default tip options also are not cool.

The food flavors may be great for others so no knock on the District. I’d definitely recommend checking the place out and would come again to try some other items but the initial items that popped out didn’t wow with 1-2 exceptions.

The fried chicken sliders are very hard to share unless you just pick one only, we just did bites and shared around. The only one we liked was the Nashville - and it’s not really Nashville as it’s basically just franks red hot spice. The other 2 the flavors were not for us, one had an orange marmalade flavor. Chicken was well cooked tho.

Potato Coquettes were great - loved them how ever the dipping sauces again not so much. The rosemary one was so strong it just wasn’t for us.

Ricotta dip is great, but no where near enough baguette pieces to use the ricotta. You had to pile it on or would have so much left over.

The pork belly Banh Mi was the best thing we tried; it’s so good. It is however a weird tapas item as it’s essentially half a sandwich and comes with a knife to cut but it doesn’t cut well - would be easier if they brought this in pre cut pieces.

The red Sangria is great!

Lastly the tip machine starts at 18% which for me is an instant loss of a star. No tip machine should start at 18% and the waiter hovers around so it’s awkward to do custom. Ontario tipping culture is toxic.

The food was good apart from one steak dish which was v tough. To be fair, our waitress who was spectacular changed it for a dish of sliders which were v tasty. Inside, the setting is a bit dead n dark with a 'clubbish' feel waiting for the show to start. II can imagine it livening up late in the evening

If there was a sixth star I’d click it! Food was amazing and service on point! Matt with the ponytail was such a warm presence! Music made for a relaxed enjoyable atmosphere.
