Not recommended.
We ordered 2 "prix fixe" menus and the server (Luis) ended up charging us for each item separately, only to overcharge us in the end. The food was nothing special, really not worth paying $80 a plate.
Regrettable.

I went for brunch and loved it! This was my first time having crispy eggs Benedict and now I’m going to have a hard time going back. The pastries were so fresh and incredibly delicious. The decor is stunning. It was classy and cozy at the same time. I can’t wait to try dinner.

Really unique brunch experience with their delicious crispy poached eggs on top of a frisée salad. Delicious meal in a cute French cafe with a great vibe. Service was slow but expected on a Sunday morning.

We had a nice lunch today. Service was good and our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. The croque Monsieur was tasty but a bit skimpy compared to Toronto's Le Select Bistro.
One thing that was not very appetizing was the very visible accumulation of black dust and dirt on the ceiling air grille by the window, which was blowing air down on us and the food. We pointed that out to a female manger, suggesting that it needs to be cleaned. It appears that these grilles do not get cleaned very often, based on the accumulated dirt. The manager's response was not very encouraging and to me it appeared dismissive. There was no response about, yes we will address it or a feeling that it was of any great concern.
One would think that cleanliness in a food establishment would be of paramount importance.

We have frequented CafeBouffon every time we came to Stratford. Sometimes even brought our friends. The food is good BUT the service is always a tad snooty. Today, as we walked in and were greeted with a cold stare then a look-away from the man and woman behind the bar (instead of a friendly, welcoming hello) we had enough of the snooty inhospitable French-wannabe attitude!

We promptly went to the pizza place down the stairs (another restaurant) where we were welcomed and acknowledged as any restaurant patrons should be! With warmth!l

CafeBouffon has seen the back of our heads for the last time. They count on the good quality food for returns but there’s more to dining out than food! Service matters! And these guys are greatly lacking in that dept!

P. S. I appreciate the prompt response and acknowledgment of my post by CafeBouffon! Thank you for providing context for the circumstances of that day!

While I empathize greatly with the situation, and offer my condolences for your loss, patrons have no way of knowing what is happening behind the scenes. It’s better to close for business and hold an intimate event rather than make others feel unwelcome.
My reaction, and subsequent frustration, which led to this review, is not due to this one occasion only. It is as a result of other visits when the sentiment was similar.

From being curtly told I should not take a seat from another table for one of our guests, while the terrace was completely empty at opening time, “in case other customers arrive” to noticing the glacial reception every time we walked inside …the consistent lack of warmth and hospitality strikes me as an element of the restaurant’s culture more than an one-off.

Nonetheless, the food, location, and unique charm of your design will undoubtedly ensure your ongoing success. The loss of a few patrons won’t be noticed, I’m sure. However, taking into consideration first impressions makes a critical difference to every hospitality business and I hope this feedback will serve you, and other patrons, well.

I bring my wife here for brunch for her birthday every year, it's her favourite place in Stratford. Not my everyday vibe, but the pastries are delicious and the croque is a pretty good sandwich. My wife adores the french onion soup. We only come for brunch because their lunch menu isn't something we're personally interested in. Recommend reservations as it always seems to fill up fast.

The service and attention from all staff were remarkable.
The food preparation and quality were at a level you
would expect from any high-end restaurant. As well, it was nice to be in a local business encouraging and using local producers in their ingredients and wine and spirits made in Ontario!
We will definitely be back!

Very good meal for my birthday dinner. Steak and Duck dishes were cooked properly and the flavour was good. Portions were on the smaller size but very good product. Our server Luis was very attentive and brought me a free dessert which was very thoughtful. We would come back for another meal!

Went there before going to a play. The atmosphere was great and service was excellent. The food was excellent. Unfortunately we were did not get to try any of the wines or cocktails. Will have to try those next time.

Vegetarian options: If you eat fish there are a few options.

With a group of friends I celebrated my birthday. Decor is beautiful, food was delicious and service 10+. The gentleman who was taking care of our table was nice, professional and answered all our annoying questions very calmly. We didn’t get his name but we have a picture., lol. Getting cream brûlée with a candle it was nice touch. Thank you!

The service was exceptional and the food was excellent. Our group had two small babies and strollers and I was skeptical about going here but the staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating. Highly recommend the Lyonnaise salad and duck confit.
