Excellent brunch experience! Great service and food, nice atmosphere.
Location-wise Foster's Inn is hard to beat, being a few minutes away from the only free overnight parking lot in downtown Stratford and practically right next to Avon Theatre. It's one of the most cost-effective hotels/inns in the area. The rooms themselves were spacious, and on first impression appeared quite clean and serviceable. Most notably was that the rooms were handicap accessible and there was an elevator, which is relatively hard to find in Stratford for an affordable price. However, we did find some significant issues during our one night stay. Although there was an envelope in the room which described how they prided themselves on cleanliness, we soon discovered ants crawling on the vanity in the bathroom. Dangerously, we also found a hole in the side of our mattress which allowed the sharp point of a coilspring to stick through whenever it was sat upon. And finally, the rooms were not well insulated for sound. All the floors including the hallway were hardwood, and without a threshold in the doorway and a large gap underneath the door, every footstep and conversation sounded as though they were in the room with us. We discovered the ants and mattress issue in the morning, so we weren't able to give the staff an opportunity to fix these problems, but even if we had found these issues earlier it would've been difficult to report as their reception isn't staffed at night, or even in the morning when we checked out. It's hard to understand why Foster's Inn is rated as a 4-star hotel when it's missing many of the amenities even a typical 2-star hotel would have included. Overall, if you're willing to make some concessions to save some money or if you have accessibility issues, Foster's Inn is a serviceable option, but it definitely fell short on what it advertised.
My fiancé and I came here for dinner right after getting engaged, and it was the most perfect place to celebrate. Our server (we believe his name was Scott) made it so special and celebratory, and we had an amazing time. The food and drinks were all delicious. We got the special, splitting the massive 20oz steak, and everything was perfect. Thank you so much for making our engagement dinner so lovely!
We enjoyed a very delicious dinner at Foster’s. The service was top notch, food came out quickly and was very good.
Todd and company were fantastic! Stopped in for a quick bite before our show and the quality of food plus speed/friendliness of service was top notch. Will be back!
Stopped in for a drink, great atmosphere, & Service was excellent.
We ate at the restaurant and didn't stay there
Quaint Inn in the centre of town.
Food was very average. Our orders were mixed up. A very disappointing experience. On the + side, good thing the staff was proactive at trying to correct the mistakes that seemed to be the kitchen’s responsibility.
We typically go to Fosters a few times a year to celebrate birthdays & anniversaries - we have always had a good meal but we haven't been since the new owners took over. I hope the food quality hasn't changed but since they fired the chef, the reviews of the food have not been good - that's unfortunate.

Stopped in for lunch before attending a play at the Avon Theatre. Food, ambiance and service was five stars. Will definitely be b@ck
Came here to celebrate my friend’s birthday, but unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. All of our orders came out wrong, and we had to wait quite a while before finally getting the server’s attention—despite waving several times to another server and she just completely ignored us, prioritizing bussing and setting up tables on what was a quiet Monday night.
We ordered three Foster’s Steak Classic meals, but instead received three Steak & Frites. While the server eventually corrected the missing sides, she cleared our plates so quickly that it felt like we were being rushed out. We had planned to order dessert, but instead were just offered the bill.
As we were leaving, we couldn’t help but notice how differently we were treated compared to other guests—staff were warm and friendly to the Caucasian tables, but cold and dismissive towards us. Sadly, the whole experience left us feeling unwelcome.
This was the worst dining experience I’ve had in Canada. We felt discriminated against and rushed out. Our order was wrong, and even after waiting a long time, the server only reluctantly corrected it. At the end, staff pushed the bill on us right away while other tables were not treated the same. When leaving, they greeted others warmly but completely ignored us — no eye contact, nothing. On my birthday, this was especially upsetting. Absolutely not recommended.
Didn't stay here. Only had a very good lunchtime meal here.
It was the most amazing surprise, very friendly, great food, just steps away from the theater. Just be mindful of parking situation.
