My grandma and I had a wonderful experience at Fosters Inn while we were in town for the Shakespeare festival. The room was beautiful and has recently been refurbished. The food was fantastic and the bar/restaurant is cozy and intimate. Since it was raining much of the time, we spent many hours in the nook playing Scrabble and felt at home. The best part, however, was the employees' hospitality. My Grandma has been going to the Shakespeare festival since 1953 when it first opened and this might have been her last year going. The employees at Foster's Inn realized the significance of this and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. I will absolutely stay here every time I'm in town for the festival.
We did not stay at the Inn but had two meals in the restaurant. Brunch on May 18 we had Eggs Benedict with salmon (too salty) and an open face omelette, a bit over done. Service was very good.
Made the mistake of going back for dinner
OnMay 19. Sent back the Calamari Fritti that were cold. They came back flash fried and overdone. The mains were very disappointing. I had the Lamb burger. The meat was good but the bun was cold with toppings of lettuce, onion and tomato that obviously came straight out of the fridge. A nice meat patty ruined with cold accompaniments. My wife had the Chicken Picada. Disastrous! Dry, overcooked and tough to cut even with a steak knife. Sent it back as inedible. No replacement was offered. The charge for the Picada was reduced by 50%.The Server was indifferent. The manager was apologetic. Sadly, overall extremely poor food quality and customer appreciation.
Very clean and well equipped rooms in a central location with a very reasonable price. Accommodating and friendly staff. Delicious restaurant on site. An excellent choice when visiting the area.
Great breakfast.
Went to dinner on April 26, 2025 around 8 pm. 3 people. My friends live in Stratford. Server very pretentious and rude. Very slow service. No.apologies for anything. Bun cold for burger. He said good to know. Fries horrible dried out. Burger almost dried out over done. My friends who have eaten here a lot will never go back. Said place completely changed. Was one of their fabourites. New owners. I will never go back.
We had Sunday brunch at Foster's Restaurant. The Assistant Manager was preparing the wine list and we had a lovely conversation about the wines and their vintage, including a brief tasting. She knew her wine and we bought one of the South American whites.
The brunch itself was excellent - the apple pie French toast and the feature omelette were delicious and beautifully presented.
The new wine list debuts this Thursday and we recommend dropping by and trying some of the South American wines. We certainly will.
Had a delicious and elegant meal here. Would recommend to anyone visiting Stratford.
Was thete for breakfast was as amazing as always and great service
Bathroom was full of ants, room was dry, bed was itchy.
When booking, they didn't tell us the bar would be so loud, especially 3 floors up and we were kept up until midnight.
Just, stay at a different hotel.
This is our go to restaurant when we go to the theatre. Last year, my husband and I stayed at Foster's after we were married. We returned this year to celebrate our first anniversary. Our room was clean and quiet and just perfect. The staff was professional and made us feel at ease. The food was delicious as always and service terrific.
A gem in a gem of a city.

Visited restaurant only. Great Pasta of the day. Well behaving staff. Cozy seating.
We sat in Marthe’s corner. And Rod Beattie was at the bar.
Great bar, very average food. Nothing remarkable or interesting about the food it was just fine not exciting. Weird vibe around getting a seat in the dinning room. Everyone was crowded into the bar and the dining room was empty!
Breakfast area is really good the waffles are amazing but the rooms may be a bit noisy and warm depending on the year plus some minor ants in the bathroom around the sink if its in the fall as the ants will escape the cooling temperatures note only around the sink not the toilet floor or bath.
