Having lived in Stratford for 20yrs and going back to visit I was excited to try Gene’s again as it had been years! Egg rolls were fine, Singapore Noodles (my favourite Chinese dish to eat) was ok, hot & sour soup was disappointing as tofu had a really weird texture which ruined the whole thing! My spouse enjoyed the Kung Pao Chicken and medium spice had a good kick to it!
The waitress was friendly and attentive. The food however was disappointing. The two dishes consisted mainly of large onion chunks and celery stalks. The meat portion on either dish was inadequate.
Dined in on a Friday night. The food was tasty, and the staff was friendly, but the service could use some improvement. It seemed like the staff was more focused on takeout orders than attending to seated diners. Our server never checked if we needed another drink, and when we asked for water, it never arrived.
