The service was attentive and welcoming. The staff carefully took our food allergies into account and readily adjusted the menu. The food was delicious.

Nothing but overpriced mid food. It was our first time going and we arrived a few minutes before opening and saw that they were prepping so decided to wait in the cold. Another crowd showed up 2 mins later and they opened the door immediately which was interesting to me. They let us get seated despite showing up 15 mins prior to our reservation which was nice but did not show us where the coat rack was or try to interact with us.
The cod crostini was good but I wish it was warm and crunchier. The mushroom pasta was good but got a bit too greasy, I liked the mushrooms. The steak was medium rare on the rarer side. Not sure if it was protocol to ask how we wanted it to be cooked but they didn’t. I also felt that the other group was being treated better, their server would check on them often.
I was really excited to try this place during my Stratford day trip but was disappointed by the food and service. I also wanted to try their dessert but was not excited about any of the dessert they had available that day. I wanted the Striploin steak to share from the website but they only had hanger steak (The turnip was so bitter and I didnt like the steak butter). This was supposed to be a celebration dinner but we left disappointed.

Sure, I could nickel & dime thus review with some small suggestions, like the napkins are too small; but my review would still be a 5 star PLUS. Undoubtedly one of the best dinner experiences we have had in Stratford in over 15 years. The appetizers were amazing, the entrees exquisitely delicious and the desserts bursting with favour. May Lovage continue to bring novel & beautifully fulfilling recipes & menus to the table.

We had an excellent dinner for 5 at Lovage. The food was inventive and delicious. The menu changes often but if it's still on the menu try the Pumpkin Fondue! Delicious and great for the table to share. Also the Smoked Trout Beignets were delicious - light as a feather. And the leeks. And the crudo - oh just try it all. Lately we come away from a lot of restaurant meals with a sense they lacked value. Not Lovage - the food was delicious and unique. And the service was outstanding. Try Lovage!

A must try when in Stratford!
Went for my first visit during lunch on a Friday and the place did not disappoint. As soon as my guest and I walked in we were greeted by incredibly friendly staff and a warm environment. The menu does change often which I liked as it showcases the chef’s creativity and abilities. This coupled with the open concept kitchen made me feel connected with the food and its process. I do have food allergies and the staff were incredibly accommodating and well-knowledgeable about the ingredients in their food.
Food tasted amazing, the menu when I attended had a heavy French flair and it was authentic to what I experienced in my travels abroad so that was highly enjoyable. Personally I find the price very fair for the high quality of the food.
Place was very busy giving it a lively but intimate atmosphere.
Overall I would definitely recommend as a frequenter to Stratford, and look forward to returning :)

Possibly one of the best table in Stratford. On our annual week long visit, Lovage has become our lunch stop before the theatre. The staff couldn't be more attentive and pleasant, and what comes out of the kitchen is brilliant. They knock it out of the park every single time. Bravo to all!

Unfortunately the experience was very mediocre. Food was poorly prepared, menu uninspiring and service was what you would expect at a Denny’s. Perhaps a victim of high expectations but was surprised at how much I did not like this. Way too many better options in Stratford to settle for this.

We were suggested to try this restaurant by a financial advisor in Goderich of all places. It fit into the theme of our trip perfectly, so we made a reservation and had dinner.
I ordered the shrimp Taglioni and my husband had the smoked trout salad
I think my meal killed me. I think I died and went to heaven. The shrimp was cooked to perfection. It wasn’t soft and it wasn’t rubbery. It was PERFECT. The tomato butter sauce was so light and subtle and the pasta was cooked to perfection. I really couldn’t find a single thing to say was less than.
We ordered glasses of wine, me an Italian white that wasn’t a Pinot Grigio but very similar (cannot remember the name). My husband ordered an orange wine that wasn’t a deep white equine with citrus notes and a tiny bit of tartness to complement the flavour.
My wine with my meal - perfection.
Our server - Dana (day-na) was friendly, attentive and informed about the dishes and ingredients. She even started by asking if we had any allergies or dietary concerns which honestly, I can’t remember the last time anyone asked that at a restaurant.
Lovage is a must-go for a nice French inspired dinner in Stratford.

The food was disappointing. We ordered scallops but the almond sauce was overbearing , masking the dish flavour. The zhug on the halibut had too much cardamom and was not complimenting the savour of the halibut that was served on the top of overcooked braised beans and zucchini, swimming in an orange broth. The sweetbread, accompanied with corn and some chanterelles, swimming again in a broth was somewhat tough and overcooked. The waitress was attentive. The patio lacked warmth and not overly inviting

We visited this restaurant last Friday and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. I ordered the roasted chicken, but it was not cooked enough — the meat was chewy and unpleasant to eat. I returned the plate to the waitress, and she offered to take it back to the kitchen to “cook it a little bit more.” This surprised me even more, as I don’t believe this is an acceptable fix; once the chicken has already been served with all the ingredients and sauces, reheating it is not the right solution. Overall, the food quality and handling of the situation did not meet my expectations, and I left feeling unsatisfied.
When I made the reservation, the booking form asked if there was a special occasion for our visit. I selected that it was my wife’s birthday, but during our visit, no one from the staff acknowledged it. Overall, the food quality, the handling of the situation, and the lack of attention to detail made the experience disappointing.
