We chose The Common while visiting Stratford to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday. When booking, I noted the special occasion and even received a text the day of saying they could do something to surprise her, which unfortunately never happened.
We were seated in an uncomfortable pew-style booth, service felt slow, and we were offered still water without being told it was $8. Despite the advance notice — and a visible “Birthday Girl” pin — there was no acknowledgment of her birthday. Another nearby table appeared to receive more attention, which made the experience feel uneven.
The food itself was good, but due to the lack of communication and follow-through, we won’t be returning.

Wonderful restaurant. Tim Otsuki will take good care of you. A group of 14 met for a College reunion, and there was lots of space to accommodate our group. My wife raved about the Dates & Manchego Appetizer - (Prosciutto wrapped medjool dates, stuffed with Manchego, slivered walnuts, drizzle of honey port red wine sauce). She also loved her Mushroom Chap Chae
(Sweet potato noodles, shiitake, cremini and button mushrooms, tofu, julienned vegetables, sesame seeds), and had enough to take home to enjoy the next day. I had the soup de jour and Common Style Beef Bourguignon (Burgundy braised brisket, local organic root vegetables, mushrooms & onions, colcannon and Yorkshire pudding) It was too enjoyable to leave for a second day. Would recommend this restaurant for an excellent meal.

I had an amazing experience enjoying an anniversary dinner at The Common in Stratford, Ontario. From the moment we stepped inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the perfect tone for the evening.
The menu, which features an exquisite Asian fusion selection, was absolutely delightful. Each dish was a harmonious blend of unique flavors, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. You could truly appreciate the chefs' creativity and meticulous attention to detail in every plate.
The ambiance was cozy yet sophisticated, with tasteful decor that added to the overall charm. The staff were attentive and personable, ensuring every guest felt welcome and well taken care of.
Overall, our experience at The Common was exceptional, and I highly recommend it for a special occasion or just a lovely evening out.

It was wonderful! Gorgeous patio that you must see to believe. The food was daring and delicious, not your standard fare, but that's a good thing when fine dining. The staff was top notch, from the front of the house to the kitchen. I am already looking forward to my next visit :)

Generally a really good experience. We sat in the garden surrounded by grapes and trees which was lovely. Service was timely and friendly. My house riveted made from pork shoulder and belly had a luscious soft texture, was perfectly seasoned and served on a good piece of sourdough. My main which was pho was beautifully presented with fresh lettuce, cilantro and mint along with thinly diced onions to go on top. While the broth was not 100% authentic, it was fragrant and flavourful and the rice and noodles were perfectly cooked. My wife ordered the lobster risotto which arrived with two good sized pieces of lobster tail on top. She said the flavour of the risotto was delicious but the dish ate more like rice with sauce. Our companion ordered the carpaccio to start which was beautifully sliced and nicely presented and his black cod looked moist and p perfectly cooked and he said the whole plate was delicious. The menu had nice variety and was interesting. We will definitely go back when we visit Stratford again.
