We checked out the reviews before we went so we were expecting really great food. Needless to say we were disappointed. Salmon was dry, Rizzuto was very good. My husband's prime rib was a fail. Too well done & it seamed like a sirloin steak....not great at all. The service wasn't all that great either, never offered us apps which surprised us. Took 4 ever to get a drink. Sorry but we won't be backđ

Stephanie and her crew have created a very special spot on the main street in Meaford. Stopped by for dinner and an expertly guided whisky flight in September 2025. Stephanie has curated quite a collection of over 1,000 bottles of whisky. Likely the largest collection in Canada. Very impressive. Looking forward to another flight!

My first time back at The Dam Pub since they relocated to Meaford and their food and drinks are still wonderful! They were kind enough to make the Jack Daniels Caesar like I used to have at their previous location. My brother enjoyed their Auchentoshan whiskey dram and my husband loved their ginger drink. To start, we enjoyed their French onion soup and shared their deep fried haggis. For main, I went back to my favourite dish - their lamb shank. We also had the burger and bangers and mash. My brother really enjoyed their frozen peanut butter pie. Look forward to coming here every time we're in the area, it's definitely our tradition!

A Wednesday, driving through Grey County, between Owen Sound and Thornbury, rests Meaford. A somewhat unassuming little town which the highway cuts through.
If the need to stop hits you - find The Dam Pub!
The wall, actually âwallsâ of whisky, from around the world (or at least what the LCBO will sell in Ontario) is what drew me in. And as much as I wanted to take a flight for a test, my requirement to stay on the road back home drove some constraint.
Scotland, Ireland, Japan, US and of course Canadian (even Ontario) whiskies fill the âwallâ.
Oh, and they have food as well.
We were having a late lunch so enjoyed a burger and fish & chips.
The batter was light and fish cooked perfectly as it lay across a bed of perfect chips.
The burger, home made and thick, with fries and two well placed and large onion rings.
Both dishes were good, but a bit bland for our pallet.
I washed down the burger with a local Thornbury lager.
Should you go, yes.
It is worth the stop to just see the âwallâ.
My next visit, my wife will be driving.
I would be a bit more adventurous on our next visit and let my wife drive home.

We love our local pub for so many things. Great food, friendly, attentive staff, fun, informative events and such a vibe.
Iâm not a whiskey drinker but the owner and Whiskey Sommelier, Stephanie, is slowly changing that. With their exceptional variety of whiskeys and monthly whiskey tastings Iâm becoming a fan! Weâre âtravelling the worldâ through whiskey as Stephanie enlightens us with all kinds of interesting and fun facts.
The British style pub fare is delish and there are daily food specials. The $100 per person Iâve chosen was for a Japanese whiskey tasting and a three course dinner each. Check it out soon!

The Dam Pub is âdamâ good!! We visited for lunch today and were impressed with the atmosphere, food, and service. The restaurant moved from Thornbury to Meaford and is a wonderful addition to the main street corridor.
The decor and atmosphere is cozy, like a British pub, and the whiskey wall, with over 1,000 types of whiskey is a cool and unique feature! A neat wall display shows a picture of John Catucci from âYou Gotta Eat Here!â, which makes me want to watch the episode (S1.E14)!
Our server, Megan, was very friendly and provided excellent service! The daily specials (Cauliflower Cheddar Soup, Eggs Benedict combo) sounded tasty, but we had our hearts set on certain dishes. We ordered Classic Calamari, Wee Shepherdâs Pie, and Fish & Chips.
The food was delicious and nicely presented - compliments to the chefs! The calamari was enjoyed by all and not rubbery like some calamari can be. The fish & chips were fried perfectly, with crispy batter and tender fish. The tartar sauce was tangy and tasty. The shepherdâs pie with the house salad exceeded expectations. The house salad was exceptional and offered a variety of flavours.
Overall, we had a âdamâ good experience and will visit again! :)

One of the worst restaurant experiences Iâve ever had
I honestly donât understand how this place has such a high rating â itâs completely undeserved. The food was cold, stale, and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. The service was terrible: slow, inattentive, and completely unprofessional. We had to repeat ourselves multiple times just to get the basics.
Cleanliness? Nonexistent. Just look at the photo I took from their bathroom â absolutely filthy and unacceptable for any place, let alone a restaurant.
The prices were insanely high for such poor quality. Based on my experience, I seriously believe most of the positive reviews are fake or manipulated â thereâs no way they reflect reality.
Iâm sorry, but not sorry.

Exceptional Dining & Service!
Our dinner was absolutely outstanding,Finger-Licking Good!
The Frizzled Short Rib was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, topped with crispy frizzled onions and a rich demi jus.
The Dam Lamb Shank was perfectly braised, fall-off-the-bone tender, and seasoned beautifully. Both dishes came with fresh, well-prepared veggies that complemented the meal perfectly.
The customer experience was just as exceptionalâthe staff was welcoming, helpful in selecting dishes, and made us feel truly valued.
A fantastic dining experienceâhighly recommended!
