Terrible Experience at This Pub
I had drinks at this pub on December 23, 2024, and was charged the wrong amount on my bill. Please refer to the attached picture for more details, but here’s what happened: I noticed that HST was applied to both food and drinks. However, according to the announcement from December 14, 2024, to February 15, 2025, there should be no HST on food and some drinks in Toronto. Despite this, I was still charged almost 30% HST on food.
When I raised the issue with the server, she repeatedly said, "I do not know. I will call the manager." It seemed like she didn’t know how to handle the situation, even after consulting with the manager. Eventually, after hanging up with the manager, she removed the food HST but left the drink HST intact. After paying the bill, including a tip, the server blocked me because I left a lower tip due to the incorrect charges.
The next day, I called and visited the restaurant to request a refund for the drink HST as well. The supervisor apologized for the situation and tried to assist me. However, suddenly, a woman who appeared to be the manager came over and started yelling at me. She said, "The machine was wrong; what can I do?" and "I told you I will help you," followed by, "Why are you yelling at my employee? I’ll call the police." She even hit the machine herself and she was the one who yelled at me in the restaurant. There was absolutely no reason for her to yell myself to the supervisor or the servers. I even mentioned to another server that I had come to get a refund, and she apologized and offered me a free drink because it was Christmas Eve. Additionally, there were other customers eating and drinking at the time. If it was truly a machine error, the manager should have addressed the issue immediately, not the following day. Instead, I felt like they were ignoring me and blaming me for pointing out their mistake. I even regret not calling the police at that moment.
This pub was one of my regular pubs, and I always found the staff to be pleasant. However, due to the behavior of this manager, I really disappointed it.
To anyone who dined there before December 24, 2024: please check your receipt carefully. You may have been overcharged.

I had the pleasure of visiting Thornhill Pub recently, and I must say, my experience was elevated thanks to the amazing service from Parastoo! From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel right at home.
Not only was she attentive and friendly, but Parastoo went above and beyond to make sure my dining experience was perfect. She was knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations, and her positive attitude really added to the welcoming atmosphere of the pub.

A very warm. comfortable and welcoming spot with amazing staff, We held a reception at Thornhill Pub last Saturday for a group of 25. Everyone commented on the great service and tasty food (the coconut shrimps were absolutely delicious) We would not hesitate to recommend this pub for a casual gathering. A big shoutout to Emma for making our time there enjoyable. Hope to be back soon.
