A restaurant called The Canton used to be on Simpson street and it was the best I've ever had. I was at Shopper's on Arthur and saw the Canton restaurant tucked in a small spot in the little strip mall. I had to try it so we did a couple days later......the quality of the food is not even close to what the old one used to be..... too bad because when the original was on Simpson street the owner had his sons working there too. I don't know if this is the same family, but I remember the food changed a little after the Dad passed away and the restaurant on Simpson closed down because people just stopped going after the food and service changed........

We went here for the first time today and had dim sum. It was very tasty, and the owners were very friendly. We'll definitely be back.

Bon bon ribs burnt to an inedible crisp and special fried rice was tasteless chicken fried rice with 3 small canned shrimp added. Worst Chinese food ever. It was my first and last visit. I smell a money laundering set up. Nobody could be this bad on purpose.

Great food and exceptional cutomer service, food is amazing and they are quick to bring out your orders. Weekdays have great chinese food while on the weekends you can order from their dim-sum menu which is great to share with others! Amazing local store with great owners, be sure to pay this place a visit.

Not worth the $$$ for the portions and food had very minimal flavour. I am a very qualified chef in Asian cuisine and a fair judge when it comes to food but ordering from here was disappointing. When ordering a main course (ex. Schezuan Chicken) most restaurants offer steamed rice on the side. This place puts the rice WITH the main course as a loophole to skimping out on the chicken. Fried rice is also very lumpy and wet. Terrible. Will not order again.
Should I or should I visit the Canton? Well of course! Dimsum weekend is to die for if you’re looking for the best steamed buns in town and more on their weekday menu. Amazing locally owned by a very generous Chinese family and stellar food… this should obviously 5 stars in everyone’s books!

Went on a Friday - got a regular menu itemFlavour was fine. Not bad, but nothing making me want to come back or try more itemsPortions however were atrocious - 80-90% veg, I’m not convinced there was even a full serving of meat in my dishFinished my meal still hungry - for $20+2 stars because the service was nice and it’s not like the food was atrocious or even bad. It was fine, just nothing I’d come back for

The food was excessively salty and definitely not worth the money for the portions. Just another place that sells Americanized Chinese food.

I ordered a dish along with many more that was awful being tasteless. Just boiled chicken and rice. I sent it back. When the bill came i asked why it wasn't taken off? Owner wouldn't and even came over and said you ordered it you pay and not my fault you don't like it. I said it was terrible and he said pay and don't come back. Horrendous! Any restaurant that you send back something you don't like will take it off the bill. So if you don't like something be prepared to pay like it or not. Owner is a total j*** and should not be in business!
